JollySipper Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 (edited) Just getting started on this. This is my first large scale figure..... I must have picked the poorest fitting kit for my first one! I love the subject, tho, one of my favorite stories.......... This is the tree, assembled, then primed, puttied, primed again...... then I did a lot of washing and a little dry brushing........... Edited October 3, 2017 by JollySipper
JollySipper Posted December 9, 2016 Author Posted December 9, 2016 Thanks for showing an interest, James! Agent G did a build of this kit a while back that I've been using as reference/inspiration....... He did a fantastic job........
JollySipper Posted December 10, 2016 Author Posted December 10, 2016 So the horse is together! That was a job within itself..... Now to putty everything but the saddle. The "hair" on this is too coarse, and needs too be smoothed out. Just rubbing the one-part Bondo on with my finger.......
JollySipper Posted December 10, 2016 Author Posted December 10, 2016 The rear haunches have been puttied and in primer........
Jim B Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 That's one hairy horse. Maybe it's its winter coat. Nice job with the Bondo.
JollySipper Posted December 16, 2016 Author Posted December 16, 2016 Thanks, Jim! Started on filling seams on the rider...... I used white glue to fill the joints at his shoulders, so I wouldn't fill in the details on his jacket....... Also still working on smoothing the horse...... The tube is the glue I'm using to join parts with. It's Beacon's 527 Multi-use glue...... It's a good bond, haven't had anything come loose even with all the sanding....
JerseyRed Posted December 16, 2016 Posted December 16, 2016 (edited) This is really shaping up into something cool. I didn't understand what it was at first, when it was just the tree, but I can be a little thick. I like the details in the riders jacket. Can't wait to see what it looks like in paint."I know you rider gonna miss me when I'm gone" ?? Edited December 16, 2016 by JerseyRed
JollySipper Posted January 5, 2017 Author Posted January 5, 2017 Thanks, Guys...... hopefully within the next week or so I'll have some sort of update for you........!
JollySipper Posted January 7, 2017 Author Posted January 7, 2017 Thanks, Carl.........! Doing some work on the Rider......... Got some leathers done.................
JollySipper Posted January 9, 2017 Author Posted January 9, 2017 Pretty much have the rider finished!
JollySipper Posted January 18, 2017 Author Posted January 18, 2017 Putty work on the Horse is done! I think the DupliColor black primer gives it a nice low sheen......
JollySipper Posted January 20, 2017 Author Posted January 20, 2017 Started doing some detailing on the Horse.......... If you guys ever think of any tips or see something I could do different or better, don't hesitate to mention! Thanks.............
JollySipper Posted September 18, 2017 Author Posted September 18, 2017 I had boxed this away for a while and worked on model cars some. I thought with Fall upon us, it's the perfect time to try and finish him up! I've got a mockup of what I've done so far..... Still needs reigns, stirrups, cape and other bits, but I have made some progress.......
Jim B Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 That's pretty cool. The horse looks crazed with the white eyes.
JollySipper Posted October 6, 2017 Author Posted October 6, 2017 Thanks, Guys, and Thank You, G! All we need now is a red horse and a pale one..............
TooOld Posted October 8, 2017 Posted October 8, 2017 Pretty cool looking model , it makes a great display piece ! And great paint work too !
