Chariots of Fire Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 Anybody else having trouble loading photos? For the last two times the photos are not accepted even though they are all below 420 kb in size. I keep getting a notice of the maximum size. Did something change? I'm loading photos by choosing them as noted below.
blunc Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 best to use a photo site like Fotki, Photobucket, Flickr,etc.... to upload your photos to then link to them in your posts to the forumthere are a few threads on this down in the Off Topic thread.
Xingu Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 Uploading photos directly to the forum has been spotty lately and it has a very small limit to file size and storage space. As Mike stated above, you can use one of the major photo hosting sites. I believe they all offer free plans that give you several GB of storage space. You can upgrade to a paid plan which gives you a lot of storage space. They all have pros and cons and if you ask 5 people what their favorite is, you will get 5 different answers. There is more on this at the top of the forum in the "How To Use This Board" area. There is a small learning curve in using each site, but they are all fairly user friendly now. One advantage of using one of these sites is that your photos are safely stored off your computer, in case it crashes.
StevenGuthmiller Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 If you're loading directly from your hard drive, you're probably running out of allotted space. You are only allowed so much space to post photos on the forum. As the moderators have said, this is not a photo hosting site. As you post photos, & as you begin to reach your allotted space, the size of the photos you are allowed to post gets progressively smaller until it disappears entirely. I know all of this from experience! That's why you should use a photo hosting site to post photos to the forum. The photos don't take up any of your space because the photo itself is not loaded. A link to the photo on your hosting site is what you are actually seeing. You can basically post unlimited photos using a hosting site. If not, you will eventually have to go back & delete some photos to make room for others. Steve
