Superpeterbilt Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 (edited) Im getting my thread started while I have the time. This photo is the inspiration for my build. The truck in the photo is an LTS, so I will be building the newer LTA version. I will be using the Ford Aeromax kit, and the mixer and rear suspension from the Paystar kit. Here is a similar build of an LTA dump truck Ive been fooling around with. I have learned the quirks of this kit, so the next one will go smoother. I will also be using these AITM 12X24 6 spoke wheels on the mixer build. Edited January 1, 2017 by Superpeterbilt
Mopar - D Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 Terry your mixer is going to be a nice match with your Ford cab. Like your dump truck to.
tbill Posted January 1, 2017 Posted January 1, 2017 now you've done it Terry, I want to see the mixer AND the dump done this year
cowboy rich Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 now you've done it Terry, I want to see the mixer AND the dump done this year X2
Superpeterbilt Posted January 2, 2017 Author Posted January 2, 2017 now you've done it Terry, I want to see the mixer AND the dump done this year Well, I like a challenge and making such an ugly truck look good is a challenge. Junking the sleeper and all that Aero junk and the side skirts, and it doesnt look half bad. The front axle position was a little off, but thats what I will correct next time. I really dont have a whole lot more to do on the dumper, once the bed is finished.
gatorincebu Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 X2 X3 For real, you have a lot of work to do. Now git busy. lol Cool idea for a project. Be Well Gator
kilrathy10 Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 You are so right about this one being an ugly truck....Your ideas on how to make it look more appealing are just what I was thinking.....With the work you've already posted, I'm sure you'll make this one a show stopper......Awesome work on the the dumper, so far as well.......
Tesla Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 This is going to be good! You're right about all the Aero trash. I'm looking forward to this project.
Superpeterbilt Posted January 2, 2017 Author Posted January 2, 2017 Thanks gentlemen, it should be a fun build. The kit goes together fairly easy(except for the chassis being completely wrong, and having adapter plates to move the springs back to the set back configuration). For starters on this one, I robbed some front leaf springs from a Pete 377 kit, because they are more accurate than the short springs moved back a little. The two piece hood was no problem on the dumper, nor was the multipiece cab. I used the AMT Ford back wall as a daycab patch. It only requred minor adaption for the scale difference. So Ill be doing that on this one also.
Superpeterbilt Posted January 2, 2017 Author Posted January 2, 2017 Looks Great!! You work fast!Sorry Brian, thats the dumper. I was just showing how I was going to make the cab patch.
gatorincebu Posted January 2, 2017 Posted January 2, 2017 Terry, It looks like you aren't wasting any time either ! lol I like the new day cab panel , it looks real good. Be Well Gator
jacobus Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 terry great choice , a real workhorse whit no fancy thing, slike itjacobus
k100 Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 I like the looks of it , it will look pretty cool when you get it done.
leafsprings Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 (edited) Looks like another great build. Excellent choice in tires and wheels, heavy construction trucks always used the heaviest capacity axles and largest tire and wheel combinations to give max. GVW. Before Ford stopped making heavies, they were always one of the most popular vocational trucks on the road. Edited January 7, 2017 by leafsprings
kilrathy10 Posted January 7, 2017 Posted January 7, 2017 Looks mighty fine to me, Man.....I'm loving this beast.....Great job on that back side adaptation.....Looks great....
Superpeterbilt Posted March 1, 2017 Author Posted March 1, 2017 Im still in. I havent started on it, but Im still in.
