landman Posted January 18, 2017 Author Posted January 18, 2017 (edited) I thought the interior was done until I just noticed there are no pedals. And before the clamor rises about the incorrect steering wheel, I actually intended to cut the 4 spoke and rearrange it in the shallow X. I just chickened out that's all. Made a pattern for a firewall and cut one out of .035 styrene. Added hood supports as I don't see how I could "hang" the hinge pin at each end. Edited December 18, 2020 by landman
gatorincebu Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 Pat, Nice work thus far ! I think the interior looks great. Be Well Gator

The hinge you are using is very similar to the one I used on the Maxim project. I left the hinge pin just a bit long and made up two small pieces of brass strip stock with a hole in each one that was the same size as the pin. I notched them into the radiator shell and firewall so that they are barely visible and so that they line up with the hinge pin when the hood is in position. When it is ready to install the hood in its final position after painting the pin ends will be given ever so slightly a drop of glue to hold it from sliding out Maybe you could do the same thing here.

Unfortunately, I've alerady cut my hinge to the same lenght as the hood. I'll see about punching the pin out and replacing it with a longer one.
Superpeterbilt Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 Pat, I can supply you with either the Opel Blitz tank, or the AC Mack tank if you need it. Just lemme know. Keep up the great work!
Chariots of Fire Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 Punching the pin out can be done. If it is a brass one replace it with a piece of stainless steel. Much stiffer and easier to put back in place.

DRIPTROIT 71 Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 It's amazing how it's already looking like the real thing!
Chariots of Fire Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 That's quite a workshop it's sitting in! That in itself is great! Pat: If you want to know where you can get some stainless wire for the hinges (for next time) let me know. We have a guy not far from us that has all sorts of great scratch building materials.
