landman Posted March 2, 2017 Author Posted March 2, 2017 (edited) Finished the firewall details. Marked up and installed the roof lights. Edited December 18, 2020 by landman
Chariots of Fire Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 I like your shop! Agreed! It looks like the crew just left for lunch and will be mounting the bumper when they come back! That's cool!
landman Posted March 4, 2017 Author Posted March 4, 2017 (edited) Installed mirrors and horns. The bottle said Ivory. Looks like cream to me. Ah well... Edited December 18, 2020 by landman
cowboy rich Posted March 5, 2017 Posted March 5, 2017 That's looking great Pat, really looks good in the "shop"
landman Posted March 5, 2017 Author Posted March 5, 2017 Thanks guys. Next, we have to start looking at the tank body. What you see in the "shop" photo is the tank that Terry Hymel (Superpeterbilt) sent me. I have to build the outer structure with all the doors and panels as well as the rear enclosure.
gatorincebu Posted March 5, 2017 Posted March 5, 2017 Pat, Impressive work as always . Looks good. Will be watching to see what you are going to do on the tanker body . Be Well Gator
landman Posted March 7, 2017 Author Posted March 7, 2017 (edited) I made another template for the tank body's front panel using the Mack tank. the original one had been made using the potato chip container. Edited December 18, 2020 by landman
landman Posted March 8, 2017 Author Posted March 8, 2017 (edited) Assembled the tank. It will make a great base to build on to. Added two "crossmembers" to the frame. One will support and level the cab. the bumper will hang on the lower one. Please forgive the blurry image. Edited December 20, 2020 by landman
codie27 Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 Looks great so far. The small details bring it to another level
landman Posted March 9, 2017 Author Posted March 9, 2017 (edited) Added some spacers to the tank's frame to help center it on the truck's frame. The one behind the cab mount is to get the right spacing from the cab. Working on a template for the sides of the rear compartment. Edited December 20, 2020 by landman
landman Posted March 10, 2017 Author Posted March 10, 2017 (edited) And the pattern making continues. I'm going to have to take a step back and figure out how to do the junctions of some of those panels. Edited December 20, 2020 by landman
landman Posted March 10, 2017 Author Posted March 10, 2017 (edited) Thanks Dan. added supports for the side panels. Transferred the pattern for the front to styrene and installed it. Edited December 20, 2020 by landman
landman Posted March 11, 2017 Author Posted March 11, 2017 (edited) Cut the side panels and rear extension. Edited December 20, 2020 by landman
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted March 11, 2017 Posted March 11, 2017 WOW!!! This thing is really taking shape. It is looking great!!
landman Posted March 11, 2017 Author Posted March 11, 2017 (edited) Added more bracing. Most of which had to be relocated for interference reasons. Added some compartment access doors. Edited December 20, 2020 by landman
landman Posted March 11, 2017 Author Posted March 11, 2017 (edited) Andy Lemble (1930fordpickup) had given me some stuff called Renshape. It is used in carving among other things . I made the rear fenders out of it. I made one out of MDF to compare. Renshape is much nicer to work with. Made the spacer between the side panels out of MDF as it is hardly visible. Attached the sides to the tank body. Edited December 20, 2020 by landman
landman Posted March 12, 2017 Author Posted March 12, 2017 (edited) The 1:1 has diamond plate catwalks on top of the box along the tank. Added some of that and started filling gaps. Edited December 20, 2020 by landman
