Porscheman Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 I picked this up Friday night at the Jersey Shore Club meeting swap meet. It was in decent shape and I wanted it to restore it to my standards. I painted it Testors Citrus Yellow (looks green to me) with a Tamiya Semi-Gloss Black interior, Tamiya Clear Blue tinted glass and I added a set of AMT red wall tires. Thanks for looking. StevenGuthmiller Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Sweet Al!Someday I'll find one of these.I have only about a half dozen muscle cars on my want list & this is one of them.Nice work! Steve
Snake45 Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 Very nice, but you made me cry a little. I wanted one of those green Craftsman GSs for about 40 years. Finally found a fairly "workable" one I could afford on eBay, and spent about 40 hours blueprinting and tweaking and polishing the body just to get to what you started with.
kelson Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 Looks good,i've tried for years to get one off that auction site, but i'm always outbid!!
Porscheman Posted January 27, 2017 Author Posted January 27, 2017 Thanks Guys. I've looked for one of these for 40 years also and I got this one for $45.00, I think I made a good deal.Al

Al That's probably about what I paid for this hot mess, including shipping. (Might have even been a little more, I don't remember exactly.) Many, MANY hours of work later, it currently looks like this: You started with a low-mileage, never-driven-in-the-rain cream puff!
Mr Stock Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 Great work as always Al, I do enjoy looking at your restorations. This one seems to be one of the harder to find AMT models, I got really lucky a few weeks back and scored a really nice built up of the 66 Skylark annual kit, it was with an original MPC 67 GTO, I managed to get both for about £15 !! bargain
disabled modeler Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 Very nice work guys..! I have the old Craftsman one...sadly it needs another good body, glass, and wheels to restore it. My grandmother owned a 66 HT...Id like to make mine like hers was.
JerseyRed Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 (edited) Side body molding and fender scoop chrome is very crisp. It makes a big difference, it looks like it has a sparkIe to it in a couple shots. Is that BMF? Edited January 27, 2017 by JerseyRed
crazyjim Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 Looks real good. I had a 1:1 1969 Skylark GS that was almost that same color.
CometMan Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 Good color choice, it seemed that about 1/2 of the cars on the road from that era were some shade of it. Nice save of a rare subject!
Lovefordgalaxie Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 Very nicely done!!I would had painted it a green just a tad darker, and kept the white walls, but that's me.
