cobramike Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 there seems to be some question as to the grill on the 68' Shelby's, some say it is body color, others say it was blacked out and still others think it was chromed. I hope the pics I post here of 1:1 cars settles any thoughts and will be helpful to those of us that have built this model.
vamach1 Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 (edited) Thanks for posting. Body color it is for the inside area except for the black grille and chrome trim As we know the kit part includes all these areas so paint accordingly. Edited February 2, 2017 by vamach1 123
DonW Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 (edited) Any colour you like, as long as it's black. Edited February 2, 2017 by DonW
cobramike Posted February 2, 2017 Author Posted February 2, 2017 I hope that these pics help folks with their builds. I'm building a a Shelby 500 and realized that I really needed some 1:1 pics for my reference.
MrObsessive Posted February 2, 2017 Posted February 2, 2017 I LOVE this shot! I'm doing some final tweaks to the grille opening and this pic show some very slight changes I want to make. I've got a ton of pics as I'm building the Green Hornet, but this particular dead on shot helps things a bit.

MrObsessive Posted February 5, 2017 Posted February 5, 2017 I believe the one car you have pictured is actually "Lil Red"............... They have it listed as the Green Hornet, but 'Lil Red came the year before, with a supercharged V8. I'm not sure of the engine size (maybe a 428), and pics are hard to get as the car was crushed after its time was done showing off to the press and automotive world.
cobramike Posted February 6, 2017 Author Posted February 6, 2017 I believe I heard that car had a Paxton supercharger on a 289. But then Ford and Shelby were experimenting with different combinations.Have also heard of the 428 with a SC. As well.
afx Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 Historic Racing Miniatures has a new Shelby kit out.
AthOz Posted February 10, 2017 Posted February 10, 2017 More reference pics Were the OEM shocks really white back then?
