Thanks all for your more than kind comments. Here are a few pics of the car I raced back in the 60's. This is an older model long before the 64 Dodge came out in kit form.  It is a resin body and mostly kit bashed everything else. No decals.  All dry transfers - ugh!

Nice Stuff John...especially like your Cosmic Charger, not an easy kit to get together and decaled.

Yes, not for the decal challenged.

Great lookin' models John as I'm a nostalgia fan, and I just love them Mopars too! I also knew a girl in Forest Park as I'm a Chicago native.

Hey Nick, Small world, as I grew up in Forest Park.  Went to Proviso East HS.  Raced at all the near by tracks - Oswego, Rockford ( now Byron ), Union Grove, US 30.

Kool stuff. I spent many weekends at Byron growing up from about 84 to about 86 helping out in the pits... my cousin now owns and operates the Dragway!!!!! I now live a little ways away from Union Grove.....

John, Did you hang out at Skip's Fiesta Drive In in Maywood, or Duke's Drive In on Harlem & 76th?

Oh ya!  Skips was a regular Saturday night cruise for me. Had a 63 Max wedge Plymouth at the time that ran mid 12's. Pretty much owned Skips.:)  Dukes came in to being long after Skips was closed by Polk Brothers, who owned the property.  Dukes was a little haul from my house ( about an hour ) while Skips was only 15 minutes away. - The good old days.  I now own a 79 Chrysler 300 that runs mid 10's.  I need to grow up.:D

Great looking builds, all of them! But as a Stock Eliminator racer, the '64 Dodge is my favorite of them all. Very nice work and good looking 1:1 toys too, that '79 Chrysler is not a lightweight car either so nice to see someone running with one of them.

I too like the '64. Reminds me of the first real race car that I drove. It was a '63 Max wedge car, push button torqueflite with a reverse pattern valve body.

The owner forgot to tell me about the reverse pattern! Almost scattered that thing when I hit "third"!!

I have a Johan '63 kit to build that car someday! It's been at least 20 years since I got that kit!

John!

Thanks for the build pics, and also the real pics!

Question:  The pic you posted last, the one of your real car from back in the day....Can you please give some insight about the rear tire you have mounted?  Looks like a lot more than a 7" tread, plus the deflated look is killer.  These are exactly the cars that I learned to admire back in the day.  Brother-in-law bought a new 64 426 Sport Fury, and I became then Mopar-addicted.

The cars were really good.

Thanks, Michael
