Funkychiken Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 So I wanted to complete an easy kit, to start getting through the stash - which keeps growing, and gives lots of ammunition to the better half, who keeps pointing out that I "can't take them with me". I bit premature to be saying that, but I'm sure I will not get the time to run through them all... Anyway, I was not happy with the interior, and started to hack it up. Wishing I didn't now, but will try and follow through and get this completed within 3 months....
Funkychiken Posted July 2, 2023 Author Posted July 2, 2023 We are about 6 years later after starting this "3 month build", but after hacking up the interior, it stayed on the bnech getting overlooked... Only a small amount of clean up and filling required...
Funkychiken Posted July 2, 2023 Author Posted July 2, 2023 I've primered with Zero grey, several coats and light sanding with Tamiya 1500 then 3 coats of Zero Pagini Red then 2 coats of Zero Smoke (transparent black) then 1 mist, and 1 wet coat of Zero 2K diamond clear. It's probably my best finish yet, but far from flawless... a bit of dust & pitting on the bonnet, will need to be sanded 9
bisc63 Posted July 2, 2023 Posted July 2, 2023 Agreed on the color! Looks great on this beautiful body style. 1
beeRS Posted July 6, 2023 Posted July 6, 2023 Great paint job. Im surprised Revell never did a full detail version of this. 1
Dirkpitt289 Posted July 14, 2023 Posted July 14, 2023 Where were you going with this when you were cutting out the interior?

Funkychiken Posted July 30, 2023 Author Posted July 30, 2023 i've only spreayed the chassis (its a flat undercariage - but I painted it because the front lip and side edges show. (not pictured) and also completed the wheels Alclad II Aluminium with a coating of Zero Clear 1K. they look better now than they did in black... 1
Pierre_tec Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 Love that color combo, even snap title can turn out great, with a bit of loving care 1
mustang1989 Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 That color and shine look immaculate Atin. Gonna be subscribing to this one. 1
beeRS Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 I’ve never been a fan of black wheels, so nice to see you went for silver. I think it’ll contrast nicely against the Ruby paint. What will you do for seats? 2

I started to prep the body shell for trim, but ended up scraching the body - had to do another round of sanding and polising on a body panel. I've primered the dash, steering wheel, grills and tail lamp body panel, then given them a few coats of tamiya X-18. i'me going to add a little detail to the dash. What I'm worried about at the moment is how to do the tail lights. I'm probably going to mask & spray silver base then clear red... its going to take time. in the meantime, i need to try to dave the interior.
Funkychiken Posted August 7, 2023 Author Posted August 7, 2023 This kit didn't come with any decals, its quite basic, so I'm going to use some from this decal sheet and use some of the metalic stickers too. I have enough Mustang kits to make use of these! 1
adamelvis Posted August 10, 2023 Posted August 10, 2023 I own a '15 Mustang GT Trac Pack and would love to build a 1:1 version with this kit too ! Love that Red ! TCB, Adam 1
mustang1989 Posted August 19, 2023 Posted August 19, 2023 (edited) That's a good take on the tail lights Atin. I've used BMF Chrome for tail lights in the past with some Clear Red over that and it seemed to work out pretty well. Looking forward to seeing the details on that dash. One thing that I do on gauges is to drill the gauges out and put the decals onto a placard from the rear of the IP. Here's my 1970 Camaro dash to illustrate my point. It adds just that layer of added depth to the panel. Edited August 19, 2023 by mustang1989 2

Funkychiken Posted August 29, 2023 Author Posted August 29, 2023 The dials in the dash are certainly not accurate, but they look good from a distance. Any ideas what I could do to make the screen bit look like a screen? 1
Funkychiken Posted August 29, 2023 Author Posted August 29, 2023 Masked for spraying the trim - the cowl, front fogs and window edges done 1
