l88 chevelle Posted March 26, 2017 Posted March 26, 2017 today is my day off,i live in florida,80 degrees beautiful ,all I want to do is work on my models.is there anybody else that would rather be on your workbench with a 1/25 scale rather than outside on your 1.1 vehicals? are my priorities way out of line??
Ace-Garageguy Posted March 26, 2017 Posted March 26, 2017 It's YOUR day off, YOUR life, so do what YOU want to when YOU have the ability to choose. There are times I feel like working on the real cars, times I feel like driving pointlessly, times I feel like working on the little cars, times I feel like hiking for miles...don't allow doing the things you love and enjoy to make you feel guilty.
tedd60 Posted March 26, 2017 Posted March 26, 2017 The past two months I've been having difficulties of the Cardio-Pulmonary kind. I had been converting a 1:1 short school bus into a RV for my wife and I to go and see this country of ours when the problems arose. I figure, very conservatively, I have about 20-30 days of work left to finish the bus.Yeah ... I'm getting a lot of work bench time ... and LOVING it. But I'd really like to get that bus done!T
bbowser Posted March 27, 2017 Posted March 27, 2017 The priorities are yours, no one else's. 80 degrees is kind of a yawn for Florida isn't it?
OldNYJim Posted March 27, 2017 Posted March 27, 2017 There's probably aligators outside anyway - best to stay at the bench
peteski Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 There's probably aligators outside anyway - best to stay at the bench And giant cockroaches. . .

I have things to do but if bench time makes me happy that day it makes me a happy and calm person. Just like my wife when she gets to go shopping sometimes...
disabled modeler Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 Honestly sometimes you have to make time for yourself. I have things to do but if bench time makes me happy that day it makes me a happy and calm person. Just like my wife when she gets to go shopping sometimes...Carl buddy...LOL.. That is a great reply and advise...there are times where you just have to make time for what makes you happy.
crazyjim Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 I'm in Florida also and work on my models just about every afternoon. Mornings are for yard work.
GeeBee Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 I've got to work on some photo's later in Lightroom, work I was doing over the weekend, but even though it's 20 degrees cooler here today than Prague, where I was over the weekend, I thought it was about time I gave the Cruiser a good clean, I'm going to try to get a little bench time in later, but work has to come first ....but if I hadn't got any work to do, yes, I'd be sitting at the building bench right now.
GeeBee Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 It looks so real. Greta work on the dio.It is real, that's my 1:1 car, not a model ....
JTalmage Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 I have sort of let myself go. I used to ride my bicycle a lot... but I have a very stressful desk job... and even though I sit at a desk all day, being mentally exhausted at the end of each day is the same as being physically exhausted... Don't let anyone tell you it's not. So I get home and lounge. Then work on models sometimes. Haven't been really enthused lately though. The bad part is I never ever feel like working on my 1:1 projects anymore. Which is not good because I have 4 lolPlus I want to learn to play some musical instruments. Just not enough time in the day it seems.

Don't let anyone tell you it's not. I'm with you on that one, back in the early 90's I went back working for someone else, as I wanted to get a mortgage, and being self employed, it was near impossible to get one, as being a photographer, I didn't have a steady income, even though with some good commissions, I could have easily afford the mortgage payments, but the bank didn't see it like that, so I got a job at V.W, drove 89 mile to work, sat at a desk all day, unless I had to drive to other V.W dealerships, and then drive 89 mile home, and the stress levels were through the roof, I was so glad to resign after 4 years and get back to working for myself, I don't earn anything like I did at V.W, but the stress levels are near zero, the mortgage is nearly paid off, and I get to travel and do the things I want to do, there's no way in the world I would even think of a desk job ever again ....
GeeBee Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 I knew that. I was just joking around. I thought that was the case, although I would love to build a diorama that realistic ....
crazyjim Posted March 28, 2017 Posted March 28, 2017 I'm sure you could do a wonderful dio, Geoff. I wouldn't know where to start.
