Jon Cole Posted April 8, 2017 Posted April 8, 2017 Now we have a late 40’s Cadillac kit on the way- albeit a custom (see: Car Kit News & Reviews - Revell Q2/Q3 Flyer) The EldoRod by Foose Design. I already have a 1/24 diecast of it by Franklin Mint on my shelf. It’s a plum color, and is slightly different from the blue one shown, though I am not sure exactly what is different- it just is!So I was wondering why there is two different versions? Are they the same car?The plum colored is a pic of the Franklin Mint car I found on the internet; the blue one is the version that Revell has announced. I have seen a photo of the 1:1 scale plum version, I just don't have a photo.
Rob Hall Posted April 8, 2017 Posted April 8, 2017 IIRC I read somewhere the custom was reworked by Foose some years after it was built...the original is the FM purple one (it was a Boyd Coddington custom?)
Can-Con Posted April 8, 2017 Posted April 8, 2017 The original maroon version looks a lot like a convertible version of Cadzilla to me. Both came out of Coddington's shop, of corse.
Brett Barrow Posted April 8, 2017 Posted April 8, 2017 Was originally built by Coddington from a Foose design. Apparently a lot of stuff was left off in order to make the deadline for delivery to the customer. Then new owner asked Foose to build it the way he originally intended it.
Ace-Garageguy Posted April 8, 2017 Posted April 8, 2017 I would for one love this in kit !!! It's coming.
crazyjim Posted April 8, 2017 Posted April 8, 2017 I'm thinking of getting at least 1 of each of those.
Snake45 Posted April 9, 2017 Posted April 9, 2017 I'm not a fan of Cadillacs, '40s cars in general, Foose, or Coddington. So why does this thing actually look kind of cool and interesting to me?
lordairgtar Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 I saw Revell's Foose Caddy at Milwaukee NNL and it's nice. Just for the dual inlet air cleaner alone that will make it into many hot rod builds. It's a full detail kit and the truck is a new tool as well.
