hi, has there ever been a good scale representation of these valve covers? Looking at converting a Revell 69 mustang to a base Mach 1 with a 351w engine

If you can do without the stamped-in lettering of the real part, simply sanding the fins or other detail off of the innumerable covers out there that represent cast-aluminum parts produces a quite acceptable stamped-steel stock-looking part.

The new Revell 71 Bronco and Moebius 72 F-100 both have great 302's with the stock stamped valve covers but neither have the script as far as I can tell.

Just a reminder that you probably already know...all the "Windsor" family engines, 221-351, including the little 260, and the popular 289 and 302 / 5.0 (EXCEPT the Boss 302) all have the same distinctive shape on the lower edge of the valve covers where they bolt to the heads.

Perhaps the stock 289 covers from the Revell/Monogram 65 Mustang.  The powered by Ford did not start until a few years later.

MPC Ford Pinto annual kits (coupe '74-'78, wagon '77-'79, '79 is currently available) all include a small-block Ford V8 as an option.  The valve covers have the larger stylized "Ford" lettering which is centered on the covers (as opposed to being biased to the right on the 1:1 items pictured).  They do NOT have the smaller "Power By" above/to the left of the "Ford" lettering.  I believe these are the closest thing available in 1/25 scale to what is pictured.

The Jo-Han '70 Maverick and '71 Comet annual kits each include one six-cylinder valve cover with the full "Power By Ford" logo, with fantastic engraving as only Jo-Han seemed to do it.  Only those two kits came with the straight six engine.  Someone with determination, skill, and a lot of time could graft that section into a good small-block V8 valve cover, and use it as a master to make resin castings.  I don't remember if the left and right pieces for the V8 are the same except for maybe the filler cap/breather on the drivers' side.  If there are other differences, mastering left and right covers might be necessary.

MPC's 1/20 scale Econoline van kits have valve covers with the complete "Power By Ford" logo, but again the whole thing is centered left-to-right on each piece.

The 390 in the AMT 67 Comet (and presumably the 66 Fairlane) has valve covers with the Power By FORD script. The Valve covers are way wrong for a Windsor, but with a little surgery a piece of the 390 valve cover with the script could be grafted into a nice Windsor valve cover.

Trevor, didn't think of that - I've got a few of those kits in stash 

Mark, had a look at the Pinto engine and it looks like one of those 70s style engine with very little detail

I think I'm going to take the engine from the S+h Torino and combine it with the Revell Bronco and see where it takes us

On a related note I just bought an MPC Mustang II King Cobra kit and it clearly has a set of 351 Cleveland valve covers.  Any Ford person knows the largest engine put in a Mustang II was the 302 Windsor engine.

MPC's King Cobra is somewhat beyond stock...

true but those valve covers are pretty even if they are missing the Powered by Ford script.
