Is it just me, or does this tanker body seem a bit small?

May be just a visual thing, but it does look to be too shallow.  The length seems proportionally alright, but I think the tank itself needs to be a bit taller.

You could follow Ron's suggestion and add to the lower body of the bed or use a conventional cab truck/chassis.

You could slice the tanker body length wise and add a piece of plastic in between to make it taller.

Just build up the bottom part to bring the tank higher. My tank was about that size but the box is higher like the two above.

Dan, look up TAT R190 tanker in the truck bench section.

Look at where the top of the body sides are with respect to the doors of the cab.  That will give you some idea of the perspective.  Also in the top photo you really only see the top half of the tank.  The body sides come up to the widest part of the tank.  I see you used the Monogram Mack body sides.  They are probably a bit small to start with.  If you have an AMT ALF kit you could make up the body sides using this one.
