mredjr Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 (edited) Does anyone make Howard slotted wheels. I know that Modelhaus made them. Edited May 1, 2017 by mredjr
Modelbuilder Mark Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 (edited) Are you taking about the aluminum ones? There were several Monogram kits from the 70s that had some good versions that might work. This is not my model, but these are the rims I am talking about. Strip the chrome and shoot with Alclad aluminum or magnesium. http://s1239.photobucket.com/user/slotto1/media/models/29 Ford/20170428_200128.jpg.html Edited May 1, 2017 by Modelbuilder Mark Added photo
mredjr Posted May 1, 2017 Author Posted May 1, 2017 Thanks Mark but the ones I am looking for is a steel slotted with triangle shape slots.
Modelbuilder Mark Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 Your welcome, sorry I could not help. Good luck!
gtx6970 Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 I believe these are Howards.... I'll take 2 of them if you find a source in 1/25th scale
Mark Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 I don't think anyone except Modelhaus ever made that wheel. Were I to try to make one, I'd start with a slotted wheel from an MPC '60 Corvette kit. Smooth off the raised area around the center (hub) hole, and reshape the slots with a small triangular file. The oval slots already in the wheel might be just a bit wider than the triangular ones needed, in which case I'd cut pieces of sheet plastic to fit tightly into the old slots before cutting the new ones. I'd put the effort into making one wheel as perfect as possible, and use that one as a master for casting copies.
espo Posted May 3, 2017 Posted May 3, 2017 I needed a set of wheels that used to be called Anson Sprints in the '60's. I had a set on my '67 El Camino. The reissue of the AMT Avanti had just what I needed. I'm also told that the Sock It To Me Corvette has some big and littles that may work.
