Greg Myers Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 Another series where the dropped the ball' They just stopped too soon.
Greg Myers Posted June 19, 2017 Author Posted June 19, 2017 Let's keep it going, we need the ubiquitous "Notch Back" , " Coupe"
Greg Myers Posted June 19, 2017 Author Posted June 19, 2017 Hey, they even had a convertible in that series.
Greg Myers Posted June 19, 2017 Author Posted June 19, 2017 Come on now, you gotta admit it, this just doesn't get the job done.
waynehulsey Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 Sorry, but they need to be in 1/25 scale so they fit with most of the other available.
gtx6970 Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 Sorry, but they need to be in 1/25 scale so they fit with most of the other available.this, then i'll consider it
Greg Myers Posted June 19, 2017 Author Posted June 19, 2017 (edited) Well then , here's the deal, First off, I'm talking about continuing the Monogram series, which is, indeed 1/24th scale. This will enable Monogram / Revell to use most of what they already have, chassis, engines, interior parts and what have you. Second, I'm not a scale snob so i really don't care what scale it is. Thus, just tool up a nice new chassis and interior for that old AMT hack. Edited June 19, 2017 by Greg Myers
vamach1 Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 Missing are 67-73 coupes and 66-73 convertibles. Except for the 69 Shelby convertible you have to rely on resin kits or scratch building. The diecast sellers like FM and Danbury Mint did a pretty good job filling some of the gaps.
Greg Myers Posted June 19, 2017 Author Posted June 19, 2017 The thing is the coupe was "everymans" car. There were just many more of them around and more made into hot rods and what have toy.
mike 51 Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 (edited) Not really a big early Mustang fan.... .but speaking of Mustang kits in a series, I sure would like a full detail '14-17 Mustang kit. (a coupe AND a convertible would be best) not trying to change the subject tho Edited June 19, 2017 by mike 51
Craig Irwin Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 Come on now, you gotta admit it, this just doesn't get the job done. It does if you kit bash it with an AMT 67 fastback.
FordRodnKustom Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 (edited) Now show us some Notchbacks / Coupes Ok. I converted the above mentioned AMT kit into this GT. MCW Emberglo paint, Edited June 20, 2017 by FordRodnKustom
FordRodnKustom Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 The thing is the coupe was "everymans" car. There were just many more of them around and more made into hot rods and what have toy.Agreed. Same thing with the Fox generation. The Hatches and GT's had all the glamor(and price) when they were new, no one cared about the notches (or sedans as Ford called them) then. Fast forward to now...the Notches are the most desirable, at least 'round here. Glad I still have the one I bought in '91!
oldcarfan Posted June 24, 2017 Posted June 24, 2017 I generally prefer 1/25th to 1/24th, but if it's a kit I really want, I won't let the difference stop me. I think it has more to do with the fact that I preferred MPC kits to Monogram kits when I was young rather than the actual scale. However if it's 1/32nd or 1/20th, no. As for Mustangs, I would think a notchback would be a pretty easy add for them. It would take a new body and interior tub, but it would give them a new kit to release for less than a completely new tool. I really would love to see a notchback '68, '69 and '70.
Snake45 Posted June 24, 2017 Posted June 24, 2017 Ok. I converted the above mentioned AMT kit into this GT. MCW Emberglo paint, I too like '66 Coupes in Emberglow, though mine's not a GT. VERY nice work cleaning the cove side trim off yours, BTW, and I know that is NOT an easy job!
waynehulsey Posted June 24, 2017 Posted June 24, 2017 3 nice 66 hardtops. One more comment on the Monogram Mustangs, They're really good, but since I've got 90 to 100 1/25 scale Mustangs and another couple of hundred Fords, I want to keep them consistent scale. My OCD.
