iBorg Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 I'm trying to get my shop up and going. I have a couple of Sherline lathes and milling machines. I also have a Passche spray booth. Could I put them beside each other is there too much contamination possibilities? Thanks,Mike
1930fordpickup Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 paint will alway attract dust, you will need to keep it covered but that being said do you want to chance overspray on you machines?
peteski Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 Doesn't the spray booth contain all the overspray by design? I wouldn't worry about that (assuming that the spray booth is vented outside). Besides, those machines are made mostly out of metal with some engineering plastic - they are pretty robust. Or are you worried that metal chips or cutting oils will contaminate the spray booth?
Mixalz Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 Wouldnt worry about over spray. Would be concerned about particulate matter from lathe. Especially with vibrations from compressor kicking up dust.
Ben Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 I have a Sherline lathe and a booth as well. The booth will emit a little overspray and get on the lathe if close enough but the lathe creates a lot of very fine particles that would kill any paint work! I have mine in separate rooms.

If they have to be in the same room, try to create an area on opposite sides for them.
iBorg Posted July 4, 2017 Author Posted July 4, 2017 I appreciate your thought. One possible layout has them side by side, the other on different walls. Guess that's the winner.
martinfan5 Posted July 4, 2017 Posted July 4, 2017 what about keeping the paintbooth covered when not use?I always before every use, do wiping down/spraying of air in the paintbooth to get any debris out of it before I start slinging paint all over the place.
