Xingu Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 Anyone have color/manufacturer suggestions for paint to match this photo. I also could use some tips on replicating the leather look. It is for a 1964 Aston Martin DB5 I will be starting soon. Thanks.
John Pol Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 Looks like poppy red if you rubbed it after its dry will look almost like leather
Muncie Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 just some thoughts -Krylon has a satin poppy red, it may be too bright but even Walmart has it.. Michaels' and Hobby Lobby have a lot of paints with different texture and sheen - probably something there that will work. bBlick art supplies stores also have some deluxe, but spendy Montana Can paints- huge variety of colors and gloss. Hope this helps
crazyjim Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 Try to find whatever color in flat. After it dries, rub a fingertip on the side of your nose and then rub the paint. Body oils will make the flat paint look like leather.

Art Anderson Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 ha've never heard of that. Does it last pretty well?Been doing that for more than 50 years, and yes it does work!Art
Xingu Posted July 23, 2017 Author Posted July 23, 2017 Thanks for the advice. I do have a can of Montana Kent Blood Red that may be close. All the other reds that I have are way to bright. Will try the nose oil trick.
