NICE!   I'm doing a diescast Maverick (!) for my wife, whose first car was her mom's Maverick.   The Vega is definitely more exciting.  Did you strip it, repaint, and all?

painted over what was there. Testors one coat revving red,bare metal foiled all the chrome.

Nice Maverick as well.   Plastic or diecast?  That look plastic - not same as one I'm working on at any rate.

Maverick is a plastic promo. It's under glass done. The Vega is diecast
