Waz watching a CNN Investigates Documentary this morning, "We Were Warned-Cost of Gas," and got to thinking. For like 80% of the 20th Century gasoline stayed pretty cheap...and then... a minority political party takes over Congress in 1994 telling us they is gonna Save Us Money. What waz it called, oh yeah "Contract with America." So they start writing new legislation, even give corporations Subsidies to "export" jobs (which waz illegal before) to India and China...and what has happened? People in China and India, their Standard of Living goes up and now they all want the "American Dream."

Sounds to me that we got "Sold a pig in tha proverbial Poke." IMHO, it wazn't our money they waz saving, it waz our money they waz taking....which to me seems to fall under the heading of....."Un-American" and not very "Patriotic." Seems to me that Greed and Power for the Almighty Dollar is the only form of so-called Patriotism (a smokescreen) that certain politicians actually practice.

What do yall think? Models are made outa plastic, and even they are "Made in China" now.................. :D

:( Zeb I usually don't get involved in politics, But Bill(I need poonie)Clinton started this whole bullsh8t thing rollin by enacting NAFTA.If he hadn't allowed the sorry Greedy A$$ed wallstreet speculators to get started,by tellin the sorry greedy a$$ed corporations to go offshore or outa country to make more profits(causa cheeper labor costs)none of this sh8t would be as bad as it is!Sure It probly mighta happened eventually, but maybe then them poor ol mexicans would be makin more than 2 tortillas a day, an them poor ol chinese might be gettin more than a extra cuppa rice. it was all supposed to be a way to make their lives better and bring UP their level of lifestyle, NOT TO BRING OURS DOWN!!!!! NAFTA SUCKS just like ol Monica did! That's my 2cents an I'll shut up now!

I agree George, is why I didn't Vote for nor Support tha Clintons.....they are just as greedy or dollars and power as all of tha others....... did ya know George, that the Surplus that ol' Bill brags about didn't include "Unfunded Liabilities" in His Highness's calculations? When you subtracted those Unfunded Liabilities....Ol' Billo waz running a Deficit also......He learned how to do that from Dick Nixon and Ronnie Reagan.....

Wasn't NAFTA initiated by the first Bush?

George W Bush going into Irak & stirring up the middle east didn't help either.

Actually Joe, you are more correct than George, here is a brief history of NAFTA's implementation:

NAFTA was initially pursued by politicians in the United States and Canada supportive of free trade, led by Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney, U.S. President George H. W. Bush, and the Mexican President Carlos Salinas de Gortari. The three countries signed NAFTA in December 1992, subject to ratification by the legislatures of the three countries. There was considerable opposition in all three countries. In the United States, NAFTA was able to secure passage after Bill Clinton made its passage a major legislative priority in 1993. Since the agreement had been signed by Bush under his fast-track prerogative, Clinton did not alter the original agreement, but complemented it with the aforementioned NAAEC and NAALC. After intense political debate and the negotiation of these side agreements, the U.S. House of Representatives passed NAFTA on November 17, 1993, by 234-200 vote (132 Republicans and 102 Democrats voting in favor; 43 Republicans, 156 Democrats, and 1 independent against),[7] and the U.S. Senate passed it on the last day of its 1993 session, November 20, 1993, by 61-38 vote (34 Republicans and 27 Democrats voting in favor; 10 Republicans and 28 Democrats against, with 1 Democrat opponent not voting --

NAAEC - North American Agreement on Environmental Cooperation

NAALC - North American Agreement on Labor Cooperation

So even though, we have been hearing that Bill Clinton gave us NAFTA....it was actually a Republican Initiative, signed by a Republican President.... that sold us out.

Can we please keep these political opinions and points of view off this great side. Thanks!

Bruce may have a point. Maybe this could go to rants and raves so if anyone doesn't wish see political content, they don't have to look.
