kelson Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 Hello...now that my Ferrari is done,i picked this one outta the stash,i'm participating on a build-off on Instagram and figured would post here as well. Was going to paint it two tone, but think i'm going to paint it white with a dark red interior.Parts are in primer now, hope fully color coats by Monday.
Dodge Driver Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 There's some nice detail there for a snapper. It should really pop with the white/red combo.
mrmike Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 Sometimes a snap kit can offer more detail or crisper lines that a full detail kit can offer. Looking good so far on a subject not seen too often.

kelson Posted August 19, 2017 Author Posted August 19, 2017 Okay,i have a couple small updates, the bottom of the engine is molded to the chassis so some careful detailing was required, the chassis was painted grey then a couple light coats of white primer.I painted the gas tank steel and the spare tire holder semi-gloss black, but I may add a coat of dull coat as it looks a little to shiny. The bottom of the engine block was painted semi-gloss black and the block flat aluminum. The suspension was painted cast aluminum.
kelson Posted August 19, 2017 Author Posted August 19, 2017 The wheels are to bright chrome,so just sprayed a couple coats of semi-gloss clear to tone it down:
kelson Posted August 20, 2017 Author Posted August 20, 2017 Hello, hope everyone had a good weekend,a couple more updates, the suspension has been added to the chassis, the exhaust was painted metallic silver and the tip was drilled out:
kelson Posted August 20, 2017 Author Posted August 20, 2017 A couple views of the engine,it's only 3 pieces,i painted the block cast aluminum a well:
kelson Posted August 20, 2017 Author Posted August 20, 2017 Last update for today,i painted the body Tamiya TS-26 Super White, just have a couple dust nibs to sand out and then add some clear:
kelson Posted August 20, 2017 Author Posted August 20, 2017 Forgot to add a pic of the interior, decided now to go with a flat red/ bright red interior masked off the upper interior so I can paint the lower interior flat red first.Since the instrument panel and vents and console are black and the interior is molded in black,i just masked off those areas with BMF so I won't have to remask and paint later
Can-Con Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 Looking good Curtis. Did you deepen the door lines? they look about perfect.
Deathgoblin Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 Good work so far. This looks like a really nice kit.
mrmike Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 Thanks mrmike,i enjoy following your builds.you're welcome, Curtis!

Just an fyiGood to know, the instructions just call for the block and fan belt assembly to be painted silver fox and I couldn't find any good pics on the net so I sorta winged it.i have a few more daytonas in my stash,so next one I build will be more correct.
kelson Posted August 21, 2017 Author Posted August 21, 2017 Looking good Curtis. Did you deepen the door lines? they look about perfect.Yes i did and then i applied a wash using Vallejo black model wash,it's really good stuff.
kelson Posted August 21, 2017 Author Posted August 21, 2017 Good work so far. This looks like a really nice kit. Thank you,it's a pretty simple snap kit,but everything fits good with very little sanding, would love to see it reissued again.
gtx6970 Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 Nice.I worked on these cars when they were new. They were a blast to drive.
kelson Posted August 29, 2017 Author Posted August 29, 2017 (edited) Hello,..okay i'm back with a few updates the engine compartment is done the kit has no engine decals so I added a few from my scrap box I think it looks better. The interior has no decal either ,so i again grabbed from the scrap box. kelson Posted August 29, 2017 Author Posted August 29, 2017 The turbo is done as well, since it's mold in one piece i sprayed the entire piece with dullcoat the hose was painted with matt black and part of the turbo was painted flat aluminum for contrast.
