crowe-t Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 Does the current Revell Smokey And The Bandit '77 Pontiac Firebird's decal sheet have the front Georgia plate? Are the decals any good? I seem to remember seeing the decals and the gold stripes and 'Firebird' were on a black background. This seems kind of odd if the model is going to be painted black anyway. Can someone post a picture of the kit's decals?
Chuck Most Posted August 25, 2017 Posted August 25, 2017 It does have the plate, and the stripes are printed on a black background.
crowe-t Posted August 26, 2017 Author Posted August 26, 2017 Even the kits being made now have the front Georgia flag plate?
echoxrayniner Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 (edited) Found the image on Google and built it myself a long time ago, it comes with the front Georgia/Confederacy plate. No T/A decals though, could've sworn the the real car was a Trans Am D: Edited August 26, 2017 by echoxrayniner
Can-Con Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 It was a Trans Am. Looks like R/M dosen't have the licencing rights from the SCCA to use the name this season.
crowe-t Posted August 26, 2017 Author Posted August 26, 2017 I'll have to get the Trans Am decals somewhere else. I'm not sure how the gold stripes printed on black will look when it's painted black. The black on the decals might not match the black paint. Keith Marks has the gold Trans Am decals which should fit the Revell kit. I believe they were designed for the MPC Blackbird kit.
Mercuryman54 Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 I know at one point due to licensing the Trans-Am letters were on the decal sheet just spread around. You had to piece them together to make it say Trans-Am.
crowe-t Posted August 27, 2017 Author Posted August 27, 2017 I'm more concerned with the gold stripes printed on black. I can't see how the black won't show different on paint.
Mark Posted August 28, 2017 Posted August 28, 2017 I know at one point due to licensing the Trans-Am letters were on the decal sheet just spread around. You had to piece them together to make it say Trans-Am. MPC used to do that, never saw that in a Revell or Monogram kit.The decal sheet pictured has "6.6 Litre" lettering for the shaker...isn't that the designation for the Olds 403 engine? The T/As with real Pontiac power should have "T/A 6.6"...
crowe-t Posted August 28, 2017 Author Posted August 28, 2017 If I remember correctly, Bandit's Trans Am had the 6.6 Litre on the shaker.
peteski Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 I remember seeing this: I also found this (but don't remember that lettering style).
