Here's pics of the box art and the decal sheet.

Well, that's one way to dodge (no pun intended) troublesome licensing and royalty issues. B)

That is a sweet ride.  If I had an urge to do a Charger, it would be something along those line.  I was never a fan of DoH, but I certainly don't begrudge anyone who wants to build a General Lee, but if Warner Bros doesn't want to play, there's not much Round 2 can do about it.

It's not like there aren't plenty of GL kits to source the decals from, especially with the newer snapper kit coming with both peel and stick as well as waterslide decals.

It wasn't intended t be a Lee kit, but the original issue did have the flag on the decal sheet and the instructions showed that it was aupposed to be out widthwise across the trunk lid.

Revell called their character General Stewart. I guess at the time Monogram decided that their '69 Charger Kit should have the same flavor as the DOH car.I guess their flag was supposed to go across the trunk lid because the car had a Vinyl Roof Moulded in.

Probably, that was also the issue they had where the back half of the body was nearly Palmer levels of bad.

It was bad, but Revell made good on the ones I bought. Funny, I never finished that car

I actually met the guy who's car was used for measurements at a Mopar show about a year after that whole mess, he was still salty anout having to take the car out of storage without insurance on a cold November day the year before so they could remeasure it.  I want to say he said they guys who had to redo their work were a bit salty too.

I ended up cracking and buying one of these. Yes, it has it’s shortcomings, but I still like this kit. I just wish they would find the correct hood and grille inserts one day.

I grabbed a couple on sale last week.  I know it's not a great kit but I've built it a few times, (both GL and not), and always enjoy it as a quick, fun slumpbuster.

..............To further this talk, I seem to recall a conversation I had with the Model King, when Dave was retooling parts for the awb 63 Tempest Funny Farmer kit...the glass and front grill/bumper parts needed quite a bit of attention, and Dave was the one who coughed up the money, and as I recall is was about 30 grand, but to get the kit back to original condition it had to be done...my point...Round 2 can afford to upgrade many kits...if they want to.....the Ace...;)

That was a different company (Racing Champions 2) Model King was working with. I dont think Round 2 does private runs.

Yes, Joe, I totally agree.....I just wonder why Round2 cobbled this one up again, knowing full well all the other 69 Chargers we have had in the past few years, plus the new 70 R/T kit that's out.....IMO  the way to sell this thing again was to basically spend some money here, reissue it as the 69 annual Landy S/S  version in an original style box, and of course spice it up with killer decals for stock builds, and all the Landy graphics, lots of slicks, lettered Goodyears, redlines, whatever, so most of us would choose to get a couple instead of paying big bucks for the original.....it could have been a sales success for them if reissued as the shocker it has the potential to be again....the Ace...^_^

I think that would be a winner of an idea. I like that a lot!

Correct.......The Model King kits that were re-tooled came under RC2 ownership and not the current Round2 owners. R2 no longer allows private issues.....just have a different marketing plan.  Dave Burket restored a bunch of kits.....and R2 is benefiting today from those.  I am NOT slamming R2....we still have some input with them....but I do wish we could go back to the private issues.
