Classicgas Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 Beautiful. I wonder if you could combine this with Revell's 70 for a full detail build.
towman1271 Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 Perfect!!! Love the color choice & the details are great
Robberbaron Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 First off, beautiful build. I have a '72 that I did back in the '90s that I'd like to redo someday too. Beautiful. I wonder if you could combine this with Revell's 70 for a full detail build. The '70 would be a good source for the engine/trans if you want a 429 (only source I believe). Chassis would be all wrong: pre-72 Torinos/Fairlanes were unibody with leaf spring rear suspension. 72+ Torinos were body on frame with coil spring rears. The new Revell Starsky & Hutch Torino (& the new factory stock version) is the same generation, so now that we have that, it's the perfect chassis donor for a '72 Johan. I think the engine in that one is a bit of a mish-mash though (not a 1:1 Ford guy, so can't recall the specifics of what's wrong with it)
Dave Van Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 WB on the Revell 76 Torino is different than JoHan 72 Torino for some reason.....already tried it.Revell just needs to tool a 72 body for their kit.
Bob Ellis Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 David, beautiful paint. I had the notchback Gran Torino Sport. 302 Windsor small block V8. Slowwwwwwwwwwww. 9-13 mpg. All the 72s ran horrible that I remember. Dad's Buick with the 455 4V was slow too. But this 72 Torino looked beautiful.
Hmann68 Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 Very nice! Cleanly done! Love these cars, my dad had a 72 in yellow. Good work!
El Caballo Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 That is a great transformation, well done, got to love that roofline.
XJ6 Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 That is very nice, i have owned a '74 Torino back in my day, any way Great work really like the paint.
American 185 Heavy Posted October 19, 2017 Posted October 19, 2017 Beautiful Torino, dead accurate for factory. First build I have seen posted in here in a while that is awesome and 100% factory. Am currently working on taking a Starsky/Hutch Torino and turning it in to a Brougham coupe. Opera windows were tough, but the end result will be worth it.
