jaftygas Posted October 16, 2017 Posted October 16, 2017 well what to do? The stone woods and cook is on hold, so with the inspiration from Bernard, you know who you are! I'm going to try scratch building a rat rod chassis. Wish me luck.
Bernard Kron Posted October 16, 2017 Posted October 16, 2017 (edited) Ooh nice! Simple is good... I like the fact that you kept the styrene fairly thin and small, which is to say in scale, but unfortunately looking like it will fall apart at any moment. Have faith, things will firm up as you add crossmembers, etc. Edited October 16, 2017 by Bernard Kron
PatW Posted October 16, 2017 Posted October 16, 2017 I built my first Rat Rod, Chassis etc recently. I had a front end but wanted it lower/stronger rear section to take the scratch rear axle. Keep going to what you think it should look like. I Google search for images of Rat Rod chassis, bodies, suspension etc. to see what I would like to fit to it.
jaftygas Posted October 16, 2017 Author Posted October 16, 2017 Thanks Bernard, I just realized you're in Seattle! I'm just getting my feet wet with this. I try to imagine doing it in 1/1, and use the math to translate. There are so many ways to make a frame that you can't possibly see them all in a lifetime. Thanks to you Patrick. I'm just going on necessities and then using my imagination to cool it up. I'm just getting started and that's half the battle. Thx to both cheers.
jaftygas Posted October 18, 2017 Author Posted October 18, 2017 Well working on the rat. Figured I'd do a 29 truck.
jaftygas Posted October 22, 2017 Author Posted October 22, 2017 Got more done on the frame. This has really turned out to be fun.
jaftygas Posted October 22, 2017 Author Posted October 22, 2017 I have my wheels and tires in the mold.
jaftygas Posted November 6, 2017 Author Posted November 6, 2017 Well been awhile sense I could work on the rod. It came to mind that I need some exhaust for the rod, and I just love sprint car exhaust. None come in any kits that will fit so naturally I must make them. I fiddled around and wasted 1/16, till l thought make a jig. I'm sure I'll make more than one set . So I started with my hydrometer tube full of K S material.
Belugawrx Posted November 6, 2017 Posted November 6, 2017 Hi JoeGood to see you building,...Can't wait to see the headersHow is the brewing going ?Cheers
jaftygas Posted November 7, 2017 Author Posted November 7, 2017 Now I just measured 1/16 rod two inches long cut four of them and go by eye to what looks good, except for the first bend which is 120 degrees back.
jaftygas Posted November 7, 2017 Author Posted November 7, 2017 Hey Bruce how are you? It's great to be my self again, and be out from under a rock. Yes I have brewed a few times in the last year or so. However, I have had to give the liver a break!?? Thanks again, Joe.P.S. Did you give brewing a try yet?

jaftygas Posted December 4, 2017 Author Posted December 4, 2017 Well I got some more done on the bored rat rod. I have not a lot of time for this, and feel guilty I'm not doing something more important when I am. I don't know why the site won't let me post my pictures. I've got a lot done.
jaftygas Posted December 4, 2017 Author Posted December 4, 2017 well sorry, but I keep getting a message that there is a problem trying to load my picture files I don't get it.
PatW Posted December 4, 2017 Posted December 4, 2017 Looking good Joe. Super looking pipes! No problems with your pictures at this end in the UK!
