Warren D Posted October 16, 2017 Posted October 16, 2017 Is there a source for warning lights? Looking for amber and red beacons, etc like what was found on tow trucks and snowplows in the 70's and 80's. 1/25 scale. Thanks in advance.
Chariots of Fire Posted October 16, 2017 Posted October 16, 2017 Usually you can find that sort of thing at model shows. Look in the parts boxes that some vendors have. They typically separate it all out so you might find just what you are looking for in quantity.
martinfan5 Posted October 16, 2017 Posted October 16, 2017 (edited) A lot of AMT truck kits came with those beacons you are in search of, you can probably find them on Ebay for sale( the lights)But depending on what you are looking for and how many I might be able to help you out. towman1271 Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 (edited) Check out customsquads.com... it's a police model site, but has many styles of ligbtbars with clear lenses that you can paint whatever's color you need Edited October 17, 2017 by towman1271
Warren D Posted October 17, 2017 Author Posted October 17, 2017 I'm looking for about 5 of the early electronic strobe types, in yellow. They were about the size and similar shape to a small coffee can. They were the first generation that replaced the rotating beacons. Thanks for the ideas.
Jim B Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 You might find something here, too: http://www.policecarmodels.com/liac.html
gotnitro? Posted October 17, 2017 Posted October 17, 2017 I've used lights from electronic stores , they're usually clear and I just cut off the metal wires and paint w clear red or amber to suit. Usually home improvement stores have bins with these lights inside ..cheap to
hooknladderno1 Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 You can also fashion them from clear acrylic rod. Plastruct makes several diameters. cut a piece, chuck it in your drill and you have a "poor man's lathe".Shape as desired, get a piece of K&S aluminum tubing, polish to a high sheen and add color with Tamiya clear paint.
