martinfan5 Posted November 7, 2017 Posted November 7, 2017 Working on the BMW M6 GT3 from NuNu Models, this is not a Tamiya like quality kit, its more like a Fujimi quality kit, still a decent kit. Started working on the decals( body has been painted with Tamiya Pure White and a coat 2k clear) , the decals are on the thick side and Tamiya Mark Fit normal or strong and Micro Sol/Set dont seem to work that good on them but they are nice. Using my phone camera because broken DSLR ,still trying to find the sweet spot. The detail up set C/F decals, while the worked good, they was a lot excess on certain spots so it was kind of PITAand the brakes with the P/E parts paint in various Metalizer paints
Tommy124 Posted November 7, 2017 Posted November 7, 2017 Hi Jonathan, good to see somebody making a start on this kit (which I have been waiting so long for). The body painting looks nice and I fully imagine that it's a hard thing to get those decals properly attached to the rear fender etc. Keep up the good work, looking forward to seeing more!
GlueTube Posted November 7, 2017 Posted November 7, 2017 Ill be following this build. Never heard of the NuNu brand.RegardsBrian
martinfan5 Posted November 7, 2017 Author Posted November 7, 2017 Tires have been decaled, the tire will get coat dullcoat Working on the front end of the chassis, there is some fit issues with the air vents and radiator piece, so more to come on that And more decals , along with a mock up of the rear wing , these decals do not really react all that much to decal setting solution, at least the ones I was using, Micro Sol/Set and Tamiya normal and strong.
935k3 Posted November 8, 2017 Posted November 8, 2017 (edited) Instead of solvents try a hot damp cloth pressed over the decal. It only takes couple seconds and will conform instantly. For the edges around the wheel openings and smaller areas like NACA ducts try a hot damp Q-Tip. Also Walthers Solvaset is a stronger solvent. Edited November 8, 2017 by 935k3

Jhedir6 Posted November 8, 2017 Posted November 8, 2017 Looking good Jonathan. Thanks for the heads up on the issues you're running in to. My first one arrived today. I may even get a chance to begin mine later on this evening before heading off to work. Looking forward to more. So far, looks spot on.

So far, looks spot on.So I am not 100% sure yet, but a big part of the fit issue is the lower radiator part you see that that is on the chassis, that front part is too wide so it keeps the bumper from seating back in its proper place, more to come on that issue. Another issue, the side and rear window pieces are going to need some trimming/sanding outer edges, they dont fit very well.
