Jim B Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 I recently had to pick up a new bottle of Testors Turn Signal Amber, and I must say that it is very disappointing! First of all, it's very yellow & pale compared to the old bottle that I had. And second, it lifts up & mixes with the base silver that I had put down first. Has anyone else seen this with the Turn Signal Amber?
JTalmage Posted November 13, 2017 Posted November 13, 2017 Yes there for a while everywhere I went had the yellow. I would check back often and finally saw the orange color make a come back... almost like they mixed a bad batch of it and sent it out the door.

Easily fixed, I think: Just add a tad of Stoplight Red to the too-yellow Turn Signal Amber. If you remember your colors, red and yellow when mixed together, make orange.Art
Jim B Posted November 14, 2017 Author Posted November 14, 2017 Thanks for the info, guys. I'll keep looking for the orange. Art, that just might work; but I'll try it off the model first!
Snake45 Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 I've been using TSA for more than 20 years and I've never seen any I'd call "orange." I'd call all of it amber. I put it OVER orange or yellow paint, depending on the look of the real car I'm going for. Yes, there are different shades of "amber" in 1:1.
Jim B Posted November 14, 2017 Author Posted November 14, 2017 You know what I mean. The TSA should be orange-ish (amber, if you will), but this is sparkly yellow. Not even close to amber. As I stated in my original post, the new TSA is lifting & mixing with the base coat of paint; but an orange base coat might just solve the issue. I'll give that a try (off the model) as well.
landman Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 mine is all gooey and thick. I say bad batch.
Casey Posted November 14, 2017 Posted November 14, 2017 I have never seen a metallic turn signal lens on any vehicle, so I continue to be perplexed why anyone would use it when better options are easily found.

I haven't bought any in a while so I haven't seen the yellow color you're talking about, just the amber that I've seen for 20 or more years. I can imagine it mixing with an undercoat of, say, Testor Chrome Silver, which is why I always use it over a basecoat of yellow or orange, depending on the effect I want.

I kept poking a hole in the skin on top and using what was underneath and finally not long ago got tired of that and started a new bottle.
Tom Geiger Posted November 16, 2017 Posted November 16, 2017 An alternative... BMF background, yellow to orange Sharpie, depending on desired shade.
