russosborne Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 Seems it isn't optional if you don't want an avatar? At least I couldn't seem to get rid of it in my profile settings. Not a huge deal, just seems silly to me. Took me a bit to realize others had their initial there on their posts. Thanks, Russ
1930fordpickup Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 Russ it is better than the blank spot we had before. At least until I figured out how to downsize a pic.
Tom Geiger Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 (edited) The initial is the default if you don't have an avatar. That's the way a lot of boards do it... almost a standard today Edited November 30, 2017 by Tom Geiger

Bobchayer Posted November 30, 2017 Posted November 30, 2017 Can someone tell me where I can find the directions to install an avatar?

Expand When you're logged in, just click on your avatar (initial in this case) and the page that pops up will have a bigger version of the avatar next to your user name, on the left of the screen. In the lower left-hand corner of that, there's a little box. Mouse-over it and it says "profile photo". Click that and you'll be taken to a page that gives you upload options. It's self explanatory from there. NOTE: You can upload pix from just about anywhere, even directly from your hard-drive, but the upper limit for an avatar is 0.24 MB If the image you try to upload exceeds that size, you'll get bumped and will need to pick something else smaller. Russell C Posted December 1, 2017 Posted December 1, 2017 Graphic artist that I am, I engineered my avatar to fit into the prior square format. Would be great if an option was available to go back to that instead of us being forced into the circle fad of Facebook / Twitter & whoever else jumped on that bandwagon.

russosborne Posted December 3, 2017 Author Posted December 3, 2017 Thanks. While I'd rather it not be there, guess there isn't much choice. I'd prefer nothing, or else the default we used to have. Russ
