Phirewriter Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 A few pieces of art I've done. The Lola was signed by the late John Surtees and is marker, gouache and colour pencil on mi teintes paper. The VW was done with India ink and a scripting brush on vellum. The GT40 was also done with ink and brushes but on linen paper.
TarheelRick Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Beautiful work and two of my favorite road racers. The VW is cool also, owned a couple in the past and really wish I had them back.
pharoah Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Very nice! I like the different techniques.
Phirewriter Posted December 12, 2017 Author Posted December 12, 2017 Thanks! I've always enjoyed working in multi media and using a variety of techniques. I'll be posting more as time permits and as I finish current projects.
JollySipper Posted December 18, 2017 Posted December 18, 2017 These are Great! Especially like the VW drawing...... last time I worked with India Ink, I made a mess of it! Very Clean........

Phirewriter Posted March 5, 2018 Author Posted March 5, 2018 (edited) Again thanks for the complements. I had a chance to speak with Carroll when he autographed my art. He said that the GT40 roadster was one of his personal favourites and that it pained him greatly to have to destroy it. I presented Mr Shelby with a high quality copy of the original artwork on better paper than the original during a Shelby reunion at Road America many years ago. I feel blessed that I had an opportunity to speak with him at length about his involvement in the GT40 program when he was involved with it, a memory I will always cherish! I only wish I could have had it autographed by Lloyd Ruby when he was at a R/A vintage event. Unfortunately I was unable to make it and he passed shortly after. Edited March 5, 2018 by Phirewriter
