I have a kit (56 beetle if you must know) that is missing most of the interior.I am going to build it and tint the windows and need to know what if anything do I need to do to prep them for painting.Do I just wash and paint or is there more to it?

That's it. Tamiya TS-71 smoke works great. Paint the inside of the glass.

Second this

Pro tip, apply it in very light coats, I mean super duper light, if not , its gonna run if you try and do anything close to a wet coat.

Yup, that's what I do.

But it may look "cloudy" or "blurry" when you're done.

But all you have to do is wait for it to be completely dry for a couple days and clearcoat it and polish it out like you would any other paintjob. When you're done it should be 100% clear and shiny.

I use Testors #2949 "Transparent Black Window Tint" lacquer with very good results.

Again, light coats are the key, & yes, just make sure that the parts are clean & dust free.

I even usually shoot a coat of blue/green Testors clear acrylic across the top of the windshield to replicate whatever you call that darker colored strip across the top on older cars, before coating the entire glass in the window tint.

If you want to completely hide the interior, it would be a good way to do so. Did that a couple of times on total curbside models, with no interior whatsoever.

This is what I used to do for my curb side builds. Since a lot of models don't have side glass I bought some clear evergreen sheets, cut them to fit, painted them and glued them in. One thing to note, by painting the clear plastic a dark color any scratches or discoloration on the outside will show up more.

I painted them flat black but not before polishing them first......now to install them.....
