fomocomav Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 Finally finished. I had it started for a long time, and some pieces went missing. I bought a promo to replace said parts. Then, of course, they turned up after I finished. 1
El Caballo Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 I was robbed (la mordida) by a Venezuelan traffic cop who was driving one of those as his squad car. Funny story...

El Caballo Posted January 23, 2018 Posted January 23, 2018 As soon as I was a couple miles away I was laughing my ass off.
fomocomav Posted January 23, 2018 Author Posted January 23, 2018 unclescott58, The picture I modeled it off of had no cherries that I could see. It was a bad picture, but nothing was on top. I couldn't see the interior, but it might have been inside.
Tom Geiger Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 Cool. I like anything light commercial! I've seen small cars like this used by police in tight areas or for traffic control.

Funny story... Here, police also drove some of those, along with VW Bugs. When one came after my father, to remain him he was too fast, and ask for a little monetary compensation to forget it, he usually just pressed the accelerator pedal a little more, and let the V8 under the Galaxie's hood do the rest. I remember well we cruising at about 160 km/h in a desert two lane blacktop in the state of Minas Gerais (where my grandmother lived) and a police Bug fading fast behind... It only worked on roads where there were no police control posts in the next say 60 kilometers.
NYLIBUD Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 Are you kidding me?I can beat the car in a chase with a wheelchair.

Yea, but as the police say, "You can't outrun a Motorola!" Many years ago my idiot friend did something stupid in front of a cop who was on parking patrol in a Cushman scooter downtown Red Bank, NJ. He just sneared at the cop and took off. A few blocks away he was met with a roadblock of two full size police cars. As he sat there the Cushman motored up and that cop gave him the original ticket and one for eluding!
NYLIBUD Posted January 26, 2018 Posted January 26, 2018 Yea that is true,ur right. But if I was the cop(s) patrolling in that car,I would duck down, and hide.lol..P.S You did a good job on the model.
Chuck Most Posted January 26, 2018 Posted January 26, 2018 Love it, love it, love it. Good thing you can't outrun a radio. I'm wondering when Round 2 will reissue these- they've been on a roll lately with the long-lost late '70's and early '80's MPC releases!
fomocomav Posted January 29, 2018 Author Posted January 29, 2018 Thanks for all the kind words and good stories! I'd like to see the earlier ones back, too. I don't know if they were lost when the tooling was updated, or if they just made new tooling. I'm guessing they actually changed the tooling, and this would be the only one they could bring back?
Chuck Most Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 (edited) They changed the front end to the '78 style, but if I remember they didn't re-do the taillights. Maybe they did at some point but yours appears to have the '78 style grille but lacks the wraparound tail lights that the later 1:1 cars had. So if it comes back as a reissue it'll basically be the kit you have. Edited January 30, 2018 by Chuck Most
