How does clearance work?  I look on line at all the clearance models, and scratch and dent stuff ,,  they say 50% to 70% off,,,   and they still cost 10 dollars more then regular price at hobby lobby,    I have better luck finding model at hobby lobby or at Ollies on clearance for $7.95,

can't find them deals online,,    And Ebay, good lord them people must think there models are made of Gold..    I get a model at Ollies for $7.95, and see the same think on ebay for $35.00,       Or maybe it me,, maybe I need half my brain removed to blend in,,,,,,,,,,,OK its off my chest know.

Using eBay to value kits is like using Barrett Jackson to value collector cars, it doesn't always work that way! Just because someone lists a kit on eBay for big money doesn't mean its going to sell for big money. A kit sells for what someone is willing to pay, much the same way in the 1:1 car world.

If you don't HAVE to have a certain kit that is going for big money on eBay, chances are you will be able to find it somewhere for the right price later.

Everybody has a different perception of what is a bargain. I could have bought a clearance model at Hobby Lobby yesterday for $7.50, definitely a bargain, but only if I was going to build it or needed it, which I didn't. Someone else might have thought otherwise.

Randy, you have to remember there are a lot of us here that do not have access to Hobby Lobby, Hobby Town, Ollies or Mejers. So when the online guys offer a clearance it's about the best a lot of us are going to get. Count yourself lucky that you can get to HL or Ollies for those really cheap kits.

eBay keeps giving away free listings to pump up the numbers of available items, and these clowns throw the clearance stuff out there trolling for buyers.  Maybe they catch a few sales to people who don't have the closeout stores in their area, in which case they make a few bucks.  Years ago, I did the same thing with the prepainted AMT kits at Wal-Mart.  I'd pick up those red/white '58 Plymouths for $9 apiece, they'd sell for between $25 and $30 without exception.  That worked with a couple other kits, but not with all of them.

Around here, I see the clearance store stuff at the automotive swap meets...apparently these guys think nobody else goes to those stores like they do...

A kit is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I have seen some kits last a year or more on ebay  and no one has bought...

Yea well I went into the new Hobby Lobby near me yesterday to check out the models that I heard, and read, were supposed to be on clearance.Models going for $6,or $7.I had a plan on buying a bunch of kits..:(Well little did I know, that the sale on the models was over.I was pissed at myself for not getting down there sooner. So what did I do?I spent about $50 on two models, that I really didnt even need...Oh also, what the hell is Ollies? We don't have one of those here in NY...Is it very similar to Hobby Lobby ,AC Moore,or Michaels?Anyway,I'll just keep an ear out for more model clearance sales, and get down there sooner.

Ollie's dumps overstock, discontinued and remaindered merchandise. Kinda like Big Lots, but lower-end, if that's imaginable.

Lotsa really cheap crapp nobody has ever heard of, and some really smoking deals on models occasionally.

The stock changes all the time, so you have to keep looking, but they DO send out fliers sometimes.

I got a mess of 1/8 Lindberg kits for less than $20 each.
