LDO Posted March 2, 2018 Posted March 2, 2018 (edited) I don't want to trash the guy yet. He has a 100% rating on his feedback with around 900 transactions. I bought 3 different items on Sunday and paid immediately, but status is still "Not Shipped" and he hasn't answered either of the questions I sent. It is driving me nuts. Just had to get that off my chest. Edited March 2, 2018 by LDO
vamach1 Posted March 2, 2018 Posted March 2, 2018 (edited) Ebay can be hit or miss with some sellers. I seem to get the fastest responses from selling with misleading or just plain wrong descriptions of an item. They usually reply within hours. Most sellers I have dealt with will update the tracking info within a day or two. Once you get the item you can always leave some meh ratings on their communication. Edited March 2, 2018 by vamach1
High octane Posted March 2, 2018 Posted March 2, 2018 Over the years I've never personally bought anything from EVIL-bay. I have had a couple of my buddies purchase a couple models for me on the bay, but I never myself had made any transactions. Guess I'm doin' fine without it.
Ace-Garageguy Posted March 2, 2018 Posted March 2, 2018 In well over 2000 eBay transactions to date, I've encountered maybe 10 or 15 problem sellers, and thanks to eBay and PayPal's policies and complaint resolution procedures, I haven't lost a nickel so far. Even sellers with high numbers of positive feedback sometimes have real-life problems that delay shipping or communications, and MOST of them come through. So long as you paid via PayPal you're pretty well covered, usually even for "lost in the mail" or smashed flat when a PO forklift drives over something. It CAN take well over 30 days to get a refund if there's a glitch, but that's a whole lot better than nothing.
LDO Posted March 2, 2018 Author Posted March 2, 2018 Yeah. 99.9% smooth transactions. Paid with PayPal. Not worried that I will lose money. Just anxious because I haven't heard from him. Again- I don't want to trash him. I haven't mentioned his name. For all I know, there's a package on my porch right now.
cobraman Posted March 2, 2018 Posted March 2, 2018 I just had the same problem. Bought some disc brake rotors ( 1/25 ) from a person with well over 1,000 positive feedback's. Posted a tracking number but never showed shipped. Sent a couple emails just asking about the item but they went unanswered. Tired of waiting i opened a claim after 3 weeks. They did not respond to ebay's email and after a couple days my money was returned to my paypal account.
Pete J. Posted March 2, 2018 Posted March 2, 2018 Yea, I have done my fair share of eBaying and only got stung once. Sometimes it took a while, but generally had good experiences. Have had items never shown as ship and no tracking numbers, just show up. I generally will ding the seller one point for poor communication and let it go at that and long as I get it in a timely fashion and it is as advertised. Lots of safety nets on ebay to fall back on and they don't put up with seller or buyer shenanigans for long. If it gets close to the time to file a claim, I would go ahead. Often times that get the sellers attention because they will take the money back.

It is driving me nuts. I had a nail biter last week. Not a model car transaction, but for my stamp collection. I found a 1908 postcard with a rare 1908 American Samoa cancellation. Postcards were the Nascar collectibles of the early 20th century so there are lots of unused cards around, but one with a legit postmark is a $100-200 item. I had a feeling the seller was unaware. I won it for the $6.99 opening bid and held my breath. I watched for a week as it was still marked as "not shipped". I was just about to ask a question and it simply showed up in my mailbox. Hurrah! Sometimes they don't change the status, and don't look at their messages, but ship the product. Keep the faith! Edited March 3, 2018 by Tom Geiger
LDO Posted March 3, 2018 Author Posted March 3, 2018 Mine totaled $437. Not something I can do very often.
LDO Posted March 3, 2018 Author Posted March 3, 2018 I finally heard from him. He said they will ship on Monday. It's a big order for resin parts, and he's working on them now. IMHO, anything listed on ebay should be ready for shipping, but I also know that a lot of resin products are a labor of love and the folks doing it aren't paying the bills with it. Maybe he just didn't expect a big order all at one time. Definitely looking forward to getting that package. I feel like Bart Simpson waiting for his spy camera.
