Rider Posted March 18, 2018 Posted March 18, 2018 (edited) Recently pulled this back out. I had started this about a year ago. 3 scale inches chopped out of the top. Sorry the pics are out of order. The top still needs work before final primer. Thanks for looking in. Edited March 18, 2018 by Rider
espo Posted March 19, 2018 Posted March 19, 2018 Very nice smooth chopped top. There is no sign of the body work that I can see on the outside.
Rider Posted March 20, 2018 Author Posted March 20, 2018 (edited) Thanks for looking in guys. There are a number of spots to fill yet. Working on thenframe now. The frame will be painted with Molotow Chrome, given a heavy wash then a smoke black. I was able to get the chrome laid down. Edited March 21, 2018 by Rider Update: frame chromed
dublin boy Posted March 21, 2018 Posted March 21, 2018 Excellent finish on that chop Curt boy, looks like it was chopped straight out of the box.
Plastic_Passion Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 Cool stuff! I have a 32 I'm very up in the air about.... if it were a 3 window... forget about it. No question about the direction.... this thing tho.... I dunno.... I'll keep peaking at your work. Maybe get some inspiration. Not to copy of coarse.
espo Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 Wait ! What ! You never mentioned the frame and gears thing. That is truly different.
Rider Posted March 22, 2018 Author Posted March 22, 2018 Thanks for the kind words and looking in guys.
GerN Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 Those frame rails show some real originality. Keep it up!
Rider Posted March 23, 2018 Author Posted March 23, 2018 (edited) Thanks Gerald. I am going with a fantasy motor. It started as a 440 Mopar.. I am going to mod the tunnel ram so the intake runners are not the siamese style, going for a Ford style. I think I am going to use BBC valve covers and tweak them a bit. Using Ford FE headers from a Gibson resin motor. The last pic is the style of tunnel ram I want to replicate. Edited March 23, 2018 by Rider
spike morelli Posted March 23, 2018 Posted March 23, 2018 ...Offy Power-Ram for big block Oldsmobile, and most likely out of a hot boat...

Rider Posted March 24, 2018 Author Posted March 24, 2018 Black wash on frame done. The painting of the frame still needs to be completed.
espo Posted March 24, 2018 Posted March 24, 2018 While not something I would try on any of my builds, I still really like the Frame and Gears treatment here.
Rider Posted March 25, 2018 Author Posted March 25, 2018 Thanks David. I like trying new things, it's not easy but I enjoy the journey and the experience of learning. Not sure about the front wheels, they need some colour before I can say if they work or not.
Dennis Lacy Posted March 25, 2018 Posted March 25, 2018 Fantastic chop! Too bad Dr. Cranky isn't still around, he'd be all over those frame rails covered in watch parts. Since you don't seem confident with the front wheels & tires I'd suggest something else. Did the rears come from the Boothill Express? How about the front 12-spokes from that kit?

I like your suggestion on the front wheels though, thanks for that. I might have to find a set of those wheels in the part market, I don't have that kit in the stash. Dr. Cranky? You mean just not around here, or he has passed?

Another cool wheel and tire set that would look awesome are from the Lil Coffin show rod by Monogram. Similar rear wheels and whitwall slicks with matching front wheels and skinny whitewall tires.
Rider Posted March 25, 2018 Author Posted March 25, 2018 He used to have a YouTube page. I will sort a tire wheel/combo suiting, I want something with girth for the fronts. Not into the wire motorcycle wheels. Thanks again for the suggestions.
larman Posted March 25, 2018 Posted March 25, 2018 This is realy cool! The frame idea is awesome. Great job on the chop and the stance looks right on! -Larry
Dann Tier Posted March 25, 2018 Posted March 25, 2018 WOW!!....this is such a unique build!!!.......WELL DONE!!!
