JollySipper Posted May 31, 2018 Posted May 31, 2018 I'm going to order myself some canvases and paints soon. I have this idea to incorporate the Grim Reaper and a clock into a painting..... I've sketched out a couple of test compositions, and want to hear what you guys might think. The picture will either be of Grim holding a clock, or him with the face of a clock..... So, tell me which one would be more interesting as a painting......... Thanks!
Fat Brian Posted May 31, 2018 Posted May 31, 2018 I like the concept of the second one better, I don't think I've ever seen a design like that before.
cobraman Posted May 31, 2018 Posted May 31, 2018 Why not both ? Holding the clock up and the staff at his side ? Just an idea.

Now I'm thinking a burning candle somewhere.... Maybe him holding a candle in one hand, staff in the other, face of a clock. I learned in Art class about critiques and brainstorming, that's just what this is....... and pieces would always come out better with input from others...... Thanks, Guys!
Snake45 Posted May 31, 2018 Posted May 31, 2018 I like the first one better. And why not incorporate a real clock into it? Make the art a functioning timepiece.
bobthehobbyguy Posted May 31, 2018 Posted May 31, 2018 Also how about a a skull to the clock face like an alarm for when your time is up.

You know what, Snake? I had actually thought of using a real clock, all it would take would be a small wooden "frame" in the back and a small hole for the stem to stick thru.... put some foam inside the small frame to hold the clock in place. You can get a clock kit for about $6.............
iamsuperdan Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 I likethe first one, but would have him holding the scythe in his other hand. Just standing up at his side.
