The color photo was taken in my hometown. The hobbies were in the back of the stationery store which was on the right hand side of the white building. Long gone. The black & white photo shows one in Ottawa that I frequented for years. Also long gone.

Hobbyland was the first shop where I was able to find vintage kits for sale. Back in the early 1980's, I would go there and buy bagged Airfix 1/32 car kits for 49 cents a kit. There were plenty of JoHan and Ertl kits which followed me home during those days. Hobby House had a second location there for a couple of years, but it wasn't the same experience (being able to navigate the aisles is overrated...)

Interesting. Where I grew up the best place for models was also in the local stationary shop but they were all in the basement with the games. Those old hobby shops were wonderful places and provide great memories for those of us old enough to remember them first hand.

Wow these pics are great.I wish I had taken some pics of LHS in my area when they were open.Ah but who knew eventually they would go out of business. There are 3 hobby shops in my area,with-in about a 40 mile range. However just recently, there were 6.Oh well.

You're all talking about old hobby shops..Was at a small mall in south Winnipeg today and saw an empty store front with the sign Hobby Source opening soon..Plastic kits,R/C cars and planes..Supplies and paint..Hope its good..You don't often see new hobby shops opening..I think it could be a national Canadian company..Who knows..I'll still support the ones who have been good to me over the years though..
