mredjr
I have always broken parts when taking old kits apart but my son showed me the Z-7 Debonder for debonding CA glue and it works great on the old tube glue. I bought a 60 Plymouth that was probably built in 1960. I used the Z-7 and got it apart without breaking a single part. It had a roll bar glued to the back of the front seat and floor put Z-7 on it and in less than 5 min. took it out and wiped the glue off. SfanGoch
Z-7 Debonder is great. Compared to BSI Un-Cure, it's far less aggressive and doesn't attack some types of styrene, i.e., causing them to craze or melt. The fact that it's a gel is a major plus, staying where you apply it. TarheelRick
Not familiar with Z-7 debonder. Where might one find it and what does the packaging look like?
SfanGoch
Here it am it's made by Pacer Technologies. You can find it at hobby shops (if there are any left near you ), art supply stores, online. Google it and you'll see prices anywhere from $2.50 on ebay to $4.99+ in some online stores.

SfanGoch
No, it was quite intentional, my dear fellow.
TarheelRick
Thanks for the reply. I'll have to look for that. I have a couple of glue bombs I need to dismantle and really do not want to break the parts.
crazyjim
This Z7 stuff is used to unglue the glue from an old kit? I use the freezer trick but would be willing to try this stuff.

If the kit was assembled using liquid cement for styrene (which melts and welds parts together), that debonder will not help.
SfanGoch
Well, it obviously worked for mredjr.

I specifically mentioned "liquid cement for styrene (which melts and welds parts together)". Tube glue is thick and mostly remains on the surface (it might slightly eat into the plastic). mredjr
I have used it on two kits that I know were built in the 60's with tub glue and both came apart very easy. I will say neither kit was a glue bomb but a couple of places have right much glue. I have not tried it on liquid glue.
