I was just watching a video over this past weekend of the top songs of the 1960's, and Aretha Franklin's 'Respect' was among them. I had heard she wasn't doing well recently, and was a bit shocked when I found out she had died. :(

I believe my Mom had ALL of Aretha's records and albums when I was a kid in the '60's and into the '70's. She will be very much missed, and her singing voice will always be one of the most recognized. R.I.P. Aretha!

Such an amazing singer.

Many years ago, when I was doing my teaching practicum, the school I was in held an airband contest. So the other student teachers and I felt that it woulkd be fun to perform something. They left the song choice up to me, and the visuals were left to them. So the three girls thought it would be funny if I dressed like a woman and they dressed like men. So with a wig, makeup, a dress, and some enhancements, I went out and performed Respect. There's video somewhere.

An amazing person, an amazing talent . The world is a better place for having had her in it. Her beautiful songs are often playing in my head.
