So I picked up the battery(charging) and oil pressure gauges. Then got the A pillar gauge pod.Now just to figure it all out.Again, the car sounds really nice with Flow masters on.And I definitely feel a difference in speed.

I'm wondering if you have a problem getting thru traffic on the freeway?  Back in 2010 We ordered a Charger RT in a dark grey color. The first thing I noticed was on the freeway when I would start to overtake a group of cars they would almost scatter to get out of the way. Then I realized the KHP were driving grey or white and black Dodge Chargers. Since they are now driving the new or newer body style this doesn't seem to happen very often, but every now and then it still works if I come up on the slowly. I'll bet you can clear a lane on the freeway real quick with your rig.

Well Sometimes they just move right over.Other times,it seems as if they freeze up,and just crawl. At times I find that everybody slows down around me,but then I have to go slow too,:P.Unless I can break out of the slow pack, and drive away. Most of the time,I just try and stay in the right lane, but the problem there, again,is that very few people will pass me..Hey at least no one tail gates me,or cuts me off, etc. And most of the time, people give me the right of way.Again,I didn't buy the car to intimidate, scare other drivers.I got it,cause I just like the car.Its built very well, and it's a V8.My first V8 in years..But I will admit,it's weird how other drivers behave, for lack of a better word, when I am driving near them.Ah,what are ya gonna do:D?I just hope I don't get pulled over by some cop who gets annoyed that I'm driving a PO car.But as long as I'm not playing Mr.Fake policeman, pulling people over, which of course I would never do,,I can drive whatever car I want,I guess.

So at work we do a lot of SUVs and truck for companies needing an HSE vehicle. Because we do so many of them, on occasion, we build one to spec as an inventory that we can show other clients.

In 2016 I built up a new Ford Expedition SSV. SSV stands for special services vehicle. That's right, we built up a cop spec SUV. Added a light bar to the roof, Setina front grille guard with additional lighting, corner strobes, mirror strobes, and traffic direction lights. All the lights were amber and white. In the interior we had a console installed with radio and lighting controls, plus added a partition and drawer system in the rear to carry first aid equipment, fire extinguishers, etc. I enjoyed driving this thing around. My drives home were the quickest they've ever been, as everyone moved out of the way. We've since done a couple of cop spec Tahoes, and two of the Ford SUV Interceptors.

I like driving the stealthy cars. :)

That must of been some truck...I said it before, and I have to say that it does feel weird driving this thing around at times.Again,no tailgating,no cutting 'me off,Everyone being very courteous.Only issue,as I said,is when I get stuck in a slow moving group of cars, until I can get around and away from them...I also ordered all black front and rear door handles. For some strange reason they put handles on my car with chrome on top...Dan or Espo,do you guys know if its legal to re hook up all the lights and sirens in the car.Again, all the pieces and wires are in the car.And certainly Not to use at all.

Yup, been through this for sure.

In Canada anyway, it is totally legal to hook up lights and sirens in your car. Wig-wag headlight flashers, strobes, a siren, PA system...all legal to have installed.

Now, if you choose to turn on blue and red lights while driving, that's another story all together! I would not recommend that.

Myself, I would probably hook all the lights up, so that when I rolled into a car show with a pristine sleep cop car, I can turn on the lightshow. :)

Exactly what I was thinking about doing.

Thanks

I would check around with the DMV to see what you can and can not do with the PD equipment. I think if you never turned it on while driving it wouldn't be a problem but you never know who's going to get their shorts in a bunch so I would verify first. Have you thought of putting an "Out of Service" sign on the rear side windows, you know for shows and such ?

Yup,that's a good idea. But for now,I'm just going to leave everything disconnected. Then maybe in the spring,a buddy of mine, who is an electrician will re hook everything back up.Only problem is that I don't want to scare anybody at any of the summer car cruises:o:P

Ya I think you would have to be very carful of the venue when you start the "light show"  You might panic the crowd you know.

Well it happened.I got word that there was going to be a car show at a mall down the road from where I was.So I figured,it's cold out, but go.I pull in to the parking lot.I  notice a bunch of,how should I call them, not to insult anyone,"imports",I guess, for lack of a better word..Anyway I parked in a spot, and turned off the car.I lit a cigarette, and before I finished it,everybody in the lot started their cars, pulled out,and left....I was like Jeeze, sorry. Then again it was an import show,so no thanks...??????

Kind of an odd reaction. You would think they would point out that it was an import show and ask you to remove your car from the display. On the other hand they may have thought you were a NARC in under cover garb and thought they had better clear the area. Does leave one to wonder. You had showered that morning ?

I happen to have met Maynard Keenan, who is a somewhat famous rock musician, who lives in Jerome and would rather make wine.  He can afford to drive a Porsche Cayenne Turbo, but he wanted to help out the town by buying a retired cop Crown Vic from an auction.  He was digging how people move over on the highway.

Actually it really wasn't a car show,it was just some folks hanging out in a mall parking lot.And I really didn't park anywhere near the other cars.Infact I was about to leave after sitting there for 10 mins. But most of the cars just drove away.I finished my smoke, and just left.As far as people moving out of my way,it usually doesn't happen, since I usually drive in the slow lane.

I haven't put the car on the road as of yet,but I have been driving around my neighborhood. This car flys,wow..The P71.It even sounds like a plane.Whatta Great car.

Story from a local deputy sheriff.  This is a very rural county, with only a few full-time deputies.  On a quiet night, this deputy was the only one on duty.  About 3 A.M. he took a break and was just about to dig into his breakfast.

Suddenly he got a call:  a woman who lived alone, reporting a prowler breaking into her house at the other end of the county, over 20 miles away.

He jumped in his Crown Vic and took off.  While on the way, he got another call: now the prowler was in the garage.  So he really put the hammer down. He said at times, the digital speedometer was reading 130 mph.

When he got to the woman's house, the prowler turned out to be a raccoon.

Racoons can be very destructive besides being ill tempered. Several years ago we moved into a new home in a newly developed area. The area was going from a cattle raising area to new homes and a lot of natural habitat was going away. We had a neighbor across the street that went away for a week and boarded their small dog with the vet. They failed to latch shut the doggie door and you'll never guess who moved in. After destroying the contains of the garage  they ate their way thru the sheet rock into the house its self. As I remember it took the insurance company and the workmen several weeks to make the place habitable again.  More recently my neighbor had sighted a Racoon one evening in his back yard. Armed with a borrowed trap he captured "Rocky Racoon" as he became known. If you were to stand even within a couple of feet of the trap this thing turned into a snarling hissing, just thankful it was in the cage. The neighbor took him a few miles up the road where a corn field and a stream intersected. He set the cage on the ground and with the tailgate down on his pickup. He leaned over and opened the door and jumped back into the bed of the truck. He said for a moment the Racoon looked like he was going after him and then turned and went down the stream bank. Moral of the story is give the little critters plenty of room and what ever you do don't try and grab on, you may begin to wonder who caught who if you do.

Ok so last night,I had a very weird problem with the P71 Crown Vic..There was something's very evil happening to the car.A friend and I tried to feed a copper tubing through the fire wall for an oil pressure gauge..Well we found a grommet on the fire wall, cut it a little, and then we were trying to feed the line under the dash.We made it through the openin. It was a perfect location running the wires and the tube up the A pillar to the set of oil pressure and volt gauges on the A pillar..Well we sent the tubing through, and then snap, the tube just snapped. Then the car decided to start driving us a little crazy. All of a sudden, there was a big problem..The car started, but the head lights and all the dash lights wouldnt work. The brake lights worked. The dome light would not turn off,so I finally just pulled the bulb..But then the worst thing happened. The car would not go into gear.It was stuck in park.Well we looked it over last night, but since it was raining, and dark,we couldn't fix it.I was gonna call AAA,but they weren't much of a big help.Since the car was stuck in park,we couldn't drag it into the flat bed.And the tow truck driver said there was nothing he could do.Well we tried looking at it again today, and realized it was a solenoid. We worked it out,and got the car to go into gear..So now I have to change that, and probably some fuses that might of shorted out cause of the copper tubing,or another reason, really not sure..Now the car drives, but I still have no lights. So I gotta trouble shoot that now..And I don't know about some of the rest of you guys, but I hate working on anything electric:(??.Always have hated it since I'm a kid..I Just hope I can get it all working again todayArrrrgggg...
