FredRPG Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 Those paint colors should really stand out when you get the foil work in place. That line on the roof is odd. I wonder how it could bleed through primer and paint?
mrmike Posted November 29, 2018 Author Posted November 29, 2018 Thank you Fred! My guess about the line on the roof is this...it could be due to the thin coat of primer on the roof and the hot Dupli-Color paint I used or this is where the plastic had joined itself when the mold was being filled and not enough pressure was used to fill it or the plastic cooled faster than it should have when the mold was being filled. It could be anyone of those things or none of them and it was something else.
Scalper Posted November 29, 2018 Posted November 29, 2018 I really like the colour combo you are doing. .this is going to be very nice
mustang1989 Posted December 6, 2018 Posted December 6, 2018 Can't wait to see this one cleared. Stance, colors and wheels look great so far Mike.
mrmike Posted December 7, 2018 Author Posted December 7, 2018 Thanks Joe! I've got to finish foiling the truck first. Been fighting with foil and adhesive.
mrmike Posted January 1, 2019 Author Posted January 1, 2019 It has been almost a month since was going to continue foiling the '72 Sport Custom today, but after looking over the body and hood, I decided to add two more coats of Tamiya TS-42 Light Gunmetal Metallic. More to come...
mrmike Posted January 2, 2019 Author Posted January 2, 2019 Bare Metal Foil is applied and done! Now I can get onto other aspects of this build like...everything else! I even foiled the tailgate release handle. The ends of the tailpipes will be shortened and replaced with aluminium tips. They are just too long and awkward looking... More to come...
mustang1989 Posted January 3, 2019 Posted January 3, 2019 Stance and wheels look perfect Mike. Good work with the paint so far.
mrmike Posted January 3, 2019 Author Posted January 3, 2019 Thanks Joe! It's getting there. Slow, but sure...
mrmike Posted January 5, 2019 Author Posted January 5, 2019 I sprayed the '72 F100 with four coats of Tamiya TS-13 Gloss Clear and then four hours in the dehydrator. A wetsanding and some polishing and onto the rest of the build. More to come...
Rusty92 Posted January 5, 2019 Posted January 5, 2019 It’s looking great. I like the wheel choice a lot! Jacob
tbill Posted January 5, 2019 Posted January 5, 2019 Looking good! I’m betting that color combo is really going to pop out in the sun.
mrmike Posted January 8, 2019 Author Posted January 8, 2019 My '72 Sport Custom Pickup is completed and posted in Under Glass. I would like to thank all those who have taken the time to view and to comment on my WIP.
