Koellefornia Kid Posted November 15, 2018 Posted November 15, 2018 A few years ago I found this Steve Stanford rendering of ´69 Mustang in the depths of the world wide web: I always loiked Steve´s work and I thought it would be fun to build something like that, so I did, using AMT´s ´69 Mach 1 kit: Didn´t agree with all of Steve´s ideas,: Left the wheel wells and the rear bumper stock and instead of flattening the side scoops, I drilled them open, framed them with BMF and added a center spear that extends into custom door handles. But I was hooked by the other custom touches Steve applied to his Pony. I smoothed the hood, scratch built a tube grille and inserted rectangular Cibie headlights, used AMT ´49 Ford custom taillights and an Evergreen styrene rod for the rear panel. Wheels are Fujimi wires with low profile tires. I also had some additional ideas: Stereo speakers in the back, a custom steering wheel and scratch built exhaust tips. Engine came from a Mustang Mach III kit with custom air filters added. Called this project „Dark Matter“. Hope you like it.

olschoolkid Posted November 16, 2018 Posted November 16, 2018 Wow! That is a nice replica of a Steve Stanford design. The added touches you made are also great and make for a ride all your own.

Cpt Tuttle Posted November 17, 2018 Posted November 17, 2018 A custom Mustang is a rare sight, especially such a late model as a 69, but I like it, and it captures the spirit of the rendering well, and I agree that your own personal touches made it better.
