Built this for a friend a while back

It was a very old kit, but went together fairly well

I enjoyed building this kit and was very happy with the final result...one of those rare builds were everything worked!

The proud owner has it on display in his dentists office...

 GREAT BUILD Curt! That is my FAVORITE Can-Am car of all time! I have the coupe version by R&D unique and a couple of the old IMC roadster kits.I even have the Tamiya 1/12th coupe kit.Did you know George Lucas used those coupe versions in his first sci-fi flick"THX 1138"? He used em as cop cars cause he thought they looked futuristic.Like I said before, GREAT BUILD!!! Edited by george 53

Nice job on the Lola. I've several of the Tamiya 1/12 lying around somewhere. I need to build them at some point. One of my favorite Can-Am cars.

It was great to see these cars run on Saturday!

I know, I know, where's the pics!!!!!

Have over 700 of them, even a pair of old "Orange" cars bumping and grinding on the corkscrew!!!!!!!

The pain, and dollars in that one :-)

Hi curt ;)

Got some history trivia for ya.

Back in the 60's, Skip Fox (Or Hudson - Can't remember which) used to race one of these at Riverside Raceway in SoCal. I worked as a pattern maker for Lancer Co. (Slot Racing Bodies) and we sponsored his car for a couple of years. Colin Chapman in England produced these and the coupes, the Lola T70 MK3's for race and also for the street. A P.R. guy brought one of the coupes out to the company and a few of us got to go for a ride with a 500 H.P. small block right behind my head.

They were slated to go into production to compete with Corvette sales and had a pending deal to buy engines from Chevrolet. When G.M. saw the car they cancelled the deal. Too bad. I wanted one. Very few were ever produced for the street. With 500 H.P., nothing could touch 'um, - and handle - OH MY GOSH!! :o

Dan Gurney - A very cool guy. He built and raced his Olsonite Eagle with the Gurney/Westlake engine. He brought the car out to Lancer Co. and I got to meet him and to photograph the car, as I was the pattern maker who was going to replicate his car into a master for slot racing bodies.

Hope you enjoy the history ;)
