kasteer Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 [size="6"]BEWARE OF THE DEATH WAGON!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAA.... Can I start making weapons now???????
Jantrix Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 Guys, I'm going to take mine a little bit more from the original Deathrace 2000 I'm thinking. The dull industrial black/steel/iron look just isn't that attention grabbing. The idea behind Deathrace is that it is a televised organized sport. We as Americans don't care for bland entertainment, even if we enjoy the actual sport. Which is why our racing teams are all brightly or strikingly colored, our Football jerseys are more eye catching, and our professional athletes/wrestlers/fighters- over the top bold. So I figure that although the cars will look a bit road-weary, they would be bold and eyecatching, thus easier to see your favorite driver. Perhaps even wearing sponsorship logo's. Lets face it, a society screwed up enough to embrace Deathrace, would definitely do that kinda thing. NASCAR WITH A BODY COUNT! So my entry will have the same armor and weapons, it will just look more organized, more thought out. And it will be sporting some eyecatching paint. If it ever stops raining. Or it could be that I'm just thinking too much into all this. But hey that's the kind of guy I am. Looking forward to starting on Friday.

Darrell Gwinn Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 (edited) Ok, Im jumping in on this one. Starting point will be an AMT '62 Bel Air super stock. It may not be an Impala, but she will be called 'Impaler' .... Edited August 21, 2008 by Dirk

I have seen the Dukes 69 at Michaels recently.

The "3000" cars are neat, but kind of drab looking. Who knows there may be enough entries to have both old school "2000" type cars and new "3000" cars. The 66 Riveria in the new movie is pretty cool looking though.
diymirage Posted August 21, 2008 Author Posted August 21, 2008 wife made a call on the 68 revell special edition kit, thats a no go so this is my entry 69 charger RT (i might still use the 68 body because it does not have the vinyl top) and this is a little sumting i came up with for all the custom fabs i will be doing (first time ill use plastruct ever) figured i would build a scale model of a brake press to make some nice even folds

diymirage Posted August 21, 2008 Author Posted August 21, 2008 (edited) good news people i checked all the differences (bront grille and rear pan right?) and all the parts fit both the 68 hardtop and the 69 vinyl so i will be entering the hardtop build up as a 69 model in this build (i wonder if i could start building the engine and such for the 68) "evil grin" here are a few more pics the chassis the body with a mapping on it and a racing seat from the partsbox (dont worry its not installed, just sitting there) Edited August 22, 2008 by diymirage
kjadud0667 Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 ok so im trying to decide if i want to kill one of my 67 plymouth gtx kits and join this build or just sit it out and watch ...

Me with No Military kits to go off of.. yo Rodney I believe you'd have a front row seat of Dirty Harry emptying his 44 at yer perfectly angled windshield right before he 'dissappeared' from view--thump! as for defense, check this out guys-- ifn any of yinz are thinkin of scratchin some weppons The M134 Gatling Gun by Dillon Aero: http://www.dillonaero.com/ I'm thinkin my Pony ACK ACK ACK would look good with one ridin 'shotgun' Edited August 22, 2008 by Crap'n Blaque
diymirage Posted August 22, 2008 Author Posted August 22, 2008 (edited) i am planning on building a gatling from scratch, just in case anyone decided to enter some of those pesky imports into the race no need to be wasting the big guns amo on them anyways, here is the only thing i had time to do today (gotta get to work) i installed raisers on the front suspension points this will get the fromt of the car up about 2-3 scaled inches give it a nice stance (i hope) ill ad raisers to the back at the very end Edited August 22, 2008 by diymirage
kasteer Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 It will be agonizing, but I have to wait until at least 5:00pm when I get home until I can work on my ride. I'll be watching what you post throughout the day though...
Aaronw Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 For those of you wondering how to make weapons, go get yourself some plastic & brass tubing in various sizes and shapes, also some ball bearings, BBs, pellets, fishing weights etc. If you spend a little time with the stuff the weapons will develop. I built a 4x4 armed & armored Porsche 911 about 20 years ago using this stuff for the weapons with no idea what I was doing. It had a couple of rockets in the bumper, a gatling on the hood and a mine dropper in the back. Wish I knew what happened to that build, it was fun and I'd like to have it. Machine guns / light cannon barrels can easily be made by telescoping tubing of various sizes into each other. Several pieces of small diameter brass tubing spaced around a piece of solid tubing, with the end encased in a larger diameter piece of tubing makes a quick good looking gatling gun. Rocket launchers are easily done using tubing and a BB, ball bearing or pellet. Just glue one of these inside the appropriate sized tubing and you have a round or pointy nosed rocket slightly visible inside the launch tube. Put several together to make a multi tube rocket launcher. Various shapes and sizes of tubing make good dropped weapon launchers, rectangular tubing makes a nice chute to a mine layer, several pieces of small round tubing can be used for the nozzles of an oil sprayer, maybe smash the tips a bit for more of a spray effect. Larger round tubing makes a good exhaust port for a smoke screen. Solid round tubing and some sheet styrene can be used to make grenade dischargers similar to the smoke grenade launchers on a tank. Of course none of this even addresses poking, slashing or bashing weapons, and the various nasty bits these cars seem to sprout. If you get some of the items I mentioned and just fiddle with it, you will find weapons will just start to come to you.
