Rusty92 Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 If you go to a hardware store and get some wire in the color of your choice, you can wrap it around a piece of sprue to coil it up. This would be a good choice if you plan on doing a lot, and cheaper also.
blackbeard Posted December 22, 2018 Author Posted December 22, 2018 do you know what size wire I would need
Rusty92 Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 I cannot remember for sure. Usually I just eyeball things, since sometimes taking the actual thing and scaling it down doesn’t always create the best results.
John Pol Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 take the wire from inside a phone cord can also use for the coiled air lines
Jim B Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 Be careful using telephone wire as some of it is stranded & not solid wire. Stranded wire will work well for chassis air lines, but will not hold a tight coil. If you need a tight coil (like for behind the cab), you're better off using Cat5 cable which is the cable that is used to connect a computer to a modem. The connector looks like the one on a phone cord (RJ11), but it's a lot bigger (RJ45).

blackbeard Posted December 23, 2018 Author Posted December 23, 2018 thank you very much for your help
RipVan Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 (edited) I am going to try 26 gauge PTFE (teflon) stranded wire for suzie coils. The outside diameter is .039 inches which would be .975 at 1/25 - very close to the full sized 7/8 air hoses I have seen offered online. It may not hold as tight a coil but should be more easily stretched to connect to a trailer. The problem with most types of wire is that it has the same outside diameter regardless of the gauge of the conductor inside. Edited January 25, 2019 by RipVan
