Funkychiken Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 I'm making a race car, I would like to add those black foam pads, but wanted to know if anyone has a tip in how to make one in scale? Cheers
W-409 Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 I made them from masking tape which I painted black. It works pretty good unless there is a bend in the roll bar tubing as that will cause wrinkles to the tape. I wonder if anyone has used this Pro Tech Roll Bar Padding on their models? Usually Pro Tech stuff is top notch quality so I'd think this is good stuff as well, but never tried it. http://www.tedsmodelingmarketplace.com/roll-bar-padding-1-25/
TarheelRick Posted January 19, 2019 Posted January 19, 2019 I agree with Ace, split heat-shrink. However if you can remember to add it before gluing everything together, you can often find some small enough, or place it on some appropriate sized aluminum tubing, heat it then slide it off and put it on your roll bar tubes.
Funkychiken Posted January 19, 2019 Author Posted January 19, 2019 Both heat shrink and masking tape are good ideas... Thanks guys!
afx Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 Heat shrink for padding. Black thread for zip ties.
BigTallDad Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 Electrical wire insulation might be another option.
