1320wayne Posted January 27, 2019 Posted January 27, 2019 My first completed build for 2019. Built pretty much out of the box using aftermarket decals. Adjusted the ride height to give it a better stance.
MarkJ Posted January 27, 2019 Posted January 27, 2019 Wow, Wayne you put a beautiful finish on that baby. What clear did you use?
bbowser Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 Wow, those decals must have been a bear! Well done!
SCRWDRVR Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 Man I bet those decals were a beast, looks great

For any models that have a lot of white in the finish I use Decoart Triple Thick found primarily at Michael's. It features no yellowing over time and I have a couple of builds that I cleared 7 to 8 years ago with this product and still haven't seen any yellowing. Plus, it goes on great and leaves a really good finish.

I thought you were going to say it was one of those horribly toxic two part clears that are super hard and dangerous to use. Knowing that Michaels sells it, is a bonus too. Is it something you shoot with an airbrush , or put on with a regular brush? Also is it toxic? I'm assuming it isn't.
Jim N Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 Great job Wayne. The paint and decal work is really stellar!

Thanks, but just my luck my local Michaels doesn't sell it. I'm going to see if Texas Art Supply does. I looked it up and it says its non toxic but it is flammable. You say you use it on white cars. Why wouldn't you use it on darker colored cars?
