TarheelRick Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 (edited) Did any stock flatheads, non-Ardun. have four exhausts pipes? I was just looking through a site which features the '29 Ford RPU used by Ralph Malph in Happy Days and it shows four exhaust pipes, but it also shows a flathead engine. https://www.mecum.com/lots/FL0118-313114/1929-ford-hi-boy-roadster-pickup/ EDIT: I just looked at it again and upon closer inspection the headers are set off from the engine block with brackets and do not appear to be real exhaust at all. However the pipes are heat discolored as if they are used. Any thoughts on this? Edited February 1, 2019 by TarheelRick
Ace-Garageguy Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 Those headers are fake. The high, front 3/4 shot of the engine shows that quite clearly. Ford flathead V8 engines had 3 exhaust ports.
Jantrix Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 Man I wonder whats the point of that? I've seen some mickey mouse stuff on hot rods before (fake hemi valve covers and the like) but this is really weird. Why not just get the right headers in the first place?
Dave Van Posted February 1, 2019 Posted February 1, 2019 A used set of 350 Chevy headers mounted upside down to brackets.....a little odd for me.
