Zen Posted February 22, 2019 Posted February 22, 2019 Has anyone bought the 1986 Mustang GT from SMH? I bought one a few weeks ago and am disappointed in the quality of the casting. Not sure if I just got a bad one or???? The front end detail is way off and sail panel detail on the drivers is almost non existent. I own a full size 86 GT so maybe I'm being a bit too critical. I did contact SMH about the quality and they pretty told me to return it if not satisfied. Just wondering in the quality of their other bodies? Has anyone bought their stuff before? Zen
Snake45 Posted February 22, 2019 Posted February 22, 2019 I just bought a '65 Falcon hood from them and was highly impressed with both the quality of the part and the speed of delivery. They seem like good people to work with.
kelson Posted February 28, 2019 Posted February 28, 2019 Who is SMH?,i'm curious to see this 86'Mustang.
SfanGoch Posted February 28, 2019 Posted February 28, 2019 I'm curious, too. There isn't a 1986 Mustang listed on the site. BTW, it's Southern Motorsport Hobbies (SMH).
BigTallDad Posted February 28, 2019 Posted February 28, 2019 At first I thought it stood for Shaking My Head

Zen Posted March 1, 2019 Author Posted March 1, 2019 (edited) This is the original listing https://www.ebay.com/itm/SMH-Resins-86-Mustang-GT-resin-body-/362539411126?nma=true&si=HriKWtKLzUGWOPMPWpfWcdeEh9Q%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557g... Not sure why it isn't on there site, might of sold out?? Edited March 1, 2019 by Zen spell check
SfanGoch Posted March 1, 2019 Posted March 1, 2019 Hmmmm.....I checked out archive.org and couldn't find it in the archived SMH pages. I also did a search at Rocketfin's Resin Car and Truck Models and Bodies database and, surprisingly, nothing comes up for it. Rocketfin lists a lot of obscure and oddball resin from both still extant and defunct casters. I wonder why this particular body is MIA from all net searches.
Zen Posted March 1, 2019 Author Posted March 1, 2019 That is odd, it was on their site back in late January when I bought mine.
Zen Posted April 17, 2019 Author Posted April 17, 2019 Well, it's back on ebay now..... https://www.ebay.com/itm/SMH-Resins-86-Mustang-GT-resin-body/202652973828?hash=item2f2f0efb04:g:LRcAAOSwHkBcsgxN
Rob Hall Posted April 17, 2019 Posted April 17, 2019 One tiny grainy photo doesn't really help sell the product.
Maindrian Pace Posted April 17, 2019 Posted April 17, 2019 If it's as bad as reported, maybe it does.
mk11 Posted April 20, 2019 Posted April 20, 2019 (edited) Just what is the problem with it? Can you show us a decent pic of the front end to help us judge it for ourselves? edit 04/23 Hmmmm… guess the poster can't or won't justify his smear... mike Edited April 23, 2019 by mk11
