Using Pledge Restore

I have never used Pledge Restore before when using decals on model cars. I'm building NASCAR models & do I put decals on the model then apply Pledge Restore or do I apply Pledge Restore on the model & then put the decals on? Thanks for your help.

Not much help, but I've been told it works either way.

If Pledge Restore is a new name for what we in the past called "Future" floor finish, then if the car is already finished in glossy surface, there is no need to apply it before decals.  If you apply it after decaling, then it will act like a clear coat sealer for the decal.  I'm not a user, other than as an occasional dip for clear model parts.

But if the paint coat on your model is flat then applying a coat of "Future" woudl give you a glossy surface which is desired for decal application. Then after decaling, you can apply the top layer (for the same reason as mentioned above).

For the sake of realism it would depend on the era of the cars you're building. I'm not a NASCAR expert, but for the last 25 years or so(experts please correct me) the sponsor logos on the vehicles have been "stickers" which have a texture to them. And even more recently than that they have switched to full body wraps, as JC shared below.

So, you would want the decals to appear with a sheen to them, not be super glossy. But, if you're simply looking to seal the decals to the body, clear over.

You can put the Pledge on before or after the decals.  The only word of caution is if you intend to use a decal setting solution.  The decal setting solution can dissolve or cloud the Future.

I agree, if you want to use the pledge I would use it after as a sealer But it is totally preference unless your using a setting fluid....
