dub Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 I just finished this one today and was fortunate enough to have good weather for photos. It is the Model King reissue and remains curbside. I was only intending it to be a paint and foil exercise. I didn't do the greatest bodywork under this paint and there are some boogers here and there, but overall I'm happy with it. Paint is the discontinued HOK spray Tru Blue Pearl over Testors new Diamond Dust lacquer. Thanks for looking!
Marc @ MPC Motorsports Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Very nice!!! Every model I do is an exercise of skills. Some of my favorite buids began as a paint experiment. What size are the CL's, 19" or 23"? I like how you black washed them too. Great job!!!
lizardlust Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 SHARP little Fomoco - the finish looks nearly flawless to my eyes!!
dub Posted September 1, 2008 Author Posted September 1, 2008 Thanks guys! Marc, they are the 19s. I thought the blackwash would tone them down a hair as they were bordering on blingy. Seems to have worked as planned! The finish is decent in the pics but trust me, I am learning from Raul. Hide the boogers with your photo angles, lighting and focus!
cruz Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Looks fantastic Jonathan, the stance is perfect as well as the subject chosen!!!
LVZ2881 Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 that looks really good!!!! I have been meaning to pick that kit up...
Nick F40 Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Oh boy Dub! I hate the color! I can't wait to see this at the meeting, I LOVE this thing although.......it is one ugly Golf!
RadRidesByDan Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 car looks really sharp no matter how many boogers you have hidden. Great Job Bear
Randy Kern Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Jonathan, I'm still looking to find some rat rod part on this...... wait, is that a skull shift knob laying on the back seat?! Looks great to me, and way different than I did mine ('70s jacked-up street machine). It looks cool down in the weeds. As far as boogers, every one of mine has them, but it's all in how you hide them! See ya at the club meeting.
MrObsessive Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Nice job as usual Jonathan! I wonder how hard this would be to kitbash the '67 Mustang chassis underneath this and put a 260/289 in it? This was basically a spinoff of the '60 Falcon in which the floorpan was used for the later Mustang.
george 53 Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 It's really cool what a little paint an some nice wheels'll do for a car! Yours is proof positive of that. It's still a curbside, but it does look like it could kick some butt!Nice clean build! great job!
